Here's where you can find Memorial Day ceremonies in the Peoria area this weekend

The public is invited to a variety of activities for the Memorial Day weekend in the Peoria area.

Friday events

Peoria

8-9:30 a.m. American Legion Peoria Post 2 will place flags on graves at Springdale Cemetery's Soldiers Hill.

Saturday events

Peoria

8 a.m. Springdale Historical Preservation Foundation will host the second annual Race for Preservation to raise funds that will support the perpetual care of Peoria’s historic Springdale Cemetery. Register for the race at https://bit.ly/SpringdaleRace.

10 a.m. Memorial Day Ceremony at Springdale Cemetery.

10 a.m. American Legion Post 2 will hold a ceremony at the Vietnam Memorial Garden, just left of the University Street entrance of Parkview Cemetery. Guest speaker will be Roger Monroe.

West Peoria

10 a.m. at Franciscan Park. West Peoria Residents Association hosts patriotic celebration recognizing veterans with area youth and Scouts. Bring lawn chairs.

Sunday events

American Legion Post 2 honor guard will conduct services at the following locations:

9 a.m. at Swan Lake Memory Gardens

10 a.m. at Resurrection Cemetery

11 a.m. at St. Mary's Cemetery

11:45 a.m. at Hebrew Cemetery

12:15 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Cemetery

2 p.m. at Springdale Cemetery

2:30 p.m. at Legion Hill/Soldiers Hill at Springdale Cemetery

3:30 p.m. at Lutheran Cemetery

5 p.m. at Veterans Park

Monday events

Peoria

10 a.m. at Navy Monument under the Murray Baker Bridge presented by the Peoria Navy Club and American Legion Post 2.

10:30 a.m. Peoria Memorial Association's annual City of Peoria Memorial Day Program at the Gateway Building on the Peoria riverfront. The event includes music from the Peoria Municipal Band, led by director David Vroman and accompanied by Lee Wenger. The Remembrance Ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. Participating organizations include Peoria American Legion Post 2, Peoria Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 814, Peoria Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, The Marine Corps League of Peoria, The Peoria Navy Club Ship 34, American Legion Post 979 in Bartonville and the South-West Peoria Kiwanis Club. Chairs will be provided for attendees, but attendees can also bring their own.

Peoria Heights

2 p.m. at Tower Park presented by American Legion Post 2

Morton

7-10 a.m. breakfast at Morton American Legion Post 318, 24 E. Adams St.

11 a.m. service at Memorial Plaza. Bring lawn chairs.

Washington

10 a.m. parade beginning at North Main and West Jefferson streets, traveling south on Main Street to Oakland and turning into Glendale Cemetery. Followed by a ceremony at Glendale Cemetery with guest speaker U.S. Rep. Darin LaHood with reflections from Col. Rusty Ballard from the 182nd Airlift Wing. Bring lawn chairs.
