Here's where to find out who is running for what office in Ashland County

Ashland County has an expansive slate of candidates who have filed for offices and positions and a list of local questions and issues on the Nov. 7 ballot.

John Good filed for municipal court judge.

Larry D. Paxton, filed for director of finance for the city of Ashland, and Richard P. Wolfe, for director of law.

For Ashland City Council, Dan Lawson filed for council-at large, and Steve Workman for Ward 1. John R. Benshoff filed for mayor of Bailey Lakes Village in Clear Creek Township. Cynthia Gaubatz and Randy Ramsthaler are on the ballot for two positions on Bailey Lakes Village Council.

Robin Beasley filed for Hayesville mayor in Vermilion Township. Three candidates − Tucker Conrad, Charles Gardner and Todd Miller − are seeking two available seats on Hayesville council.

Kevin L. Clark and Randy Spade filed for mayor of Jeromesville Village, while Jeremiah Cordes and Beth Wilson are on the ballot for two Jeromesville Council seats.

Jason Van Sickle filed for Loudonville Village mayor; Brandon T. Biddinger is the only one who filed for two available positions on Loudonville Village Council.

Victoria A. Shultz filed for mayor of Mifflin Village in Mifflin Township, and Pamela Y. Crain and Robert D. Wilson are seeking the two available seats on Mifflin Village Council.

There is a three-way contest for Perrysville Village mayor in Green Township among Steve Goines, Heather Mullinnex and Bob Zakutni. Filing for two seats on Perrysville Village Council are Chris Clady, Lonnie E. Harris II and Larry Sprang.

In Jackson Township, Donald E. Foster III filed for mayor of Polk Village, and Sara Carter and Judy A. Karoglan filed for two available seats on Polk Village Council. No valid petition was filed for two seats available on the Polk Board of Public Affairs.

In Clear Creek Township, several races are contested. Thomas G. Kruse and Doug Yoho are running for mayor of Savannah Village. Holly Farr, Sarah J. McBride and Scott Mumaw are seeking two available seats on Savannah Village Council.

Nick Stuart and Teri Yoder filed for the position of Clear Creek Township fiscal officer. David Shoup is running for Clear Creek Township trustee.

Green Township has one candidate, Rich Kline, for trustee, and one candidate, Andi Purcell, for fiscal officer.

Hanover Township has one candidate for trustee, Evan M. Gongwer, and one candidate, Rita K. Henley, for fiscal officer.

Jonathan Scott Markley filed for a position as Jackson Township trustee. Cheryl Welch filed for fiscal officer of Jackson Township.

Lewis E. Morris Jr. filed for trustee of Lake Township, and no valid petition was filed for fiscal officer of Lake Township.

In Mifflin Township, Timothy E. Echelberger filed for trustee; and John M. Bartley for fiscal officer. Jason Long and Deb Wertz filed for a trustee position, and Tricia Piper filed for fiscal officer.

Daniel Benner and Steven D. Moffett filed for one available seat on the Mohican Township Board of Trustees. Jason Grimwood filed for Mohican Township fiscal officer.

In Montgomery Township Joshua S. Boley filed for trustee and Andrea M. Wertz for fiscal officer.

Brian Canfield filed for Orange Township trustee and Robyn Shakley for fiscal officer.

Kent McGovern and James E. Uhler filed for one position as Perry Township trustee, and Valerie K. Hall filed for fiscal officer of Perry Township.

George Ashton and Eric Bohland are running for one position as Ruggles Township Trustee, and Michelle Ropp filed for Ruggles Township fiscal officer.

Neal Durfey, Robert Gibson and Glen M. Goff Sr. are seeking one position as Sullivan Township trustee. Anna Gibson filed for fiscal officer.

In Troy Township, Rusty Callihan filed for township trustee and Ashley Harris and Fred Lowery for fiscal officer.

Grant Conwell and Eric Deter filed for trustee in Vermillion Township and Amy L. Pickering for fiscal officer.

Here are the people running for board of education seats

Board of Education seats are available in the Ashland City, Crestview, Hillsdale, Loudonville-Perrysville, Mapleton, Lucas, Northwestern, New London and West Holmes school boards and on the board of Tri-County Educational Service Center.

In the Ashland District, Blake Chorpening, Greg Summers and Rob Walsh are running for two seats.

David T. Brennan, David E. Kissel Jr., Debbie A. Reidy and Evan Jerrod Stuart filed for three available positions on the Crestview Board of Education.

Jon Burkholder and Melinda Turk filed for two positions on the Hillsdale board.

Judy Briggs and John D. Carroll are seeking two positions on the Loudonville-Perrysville board.

Amity L. Arnold, Rick Foss, Amanda Francis and Roger B. Maglott are seeking two seats on the Lucas board.

Kathy Goon, Fred Hartzler, Vince Hartzler and Jay Maggard filed for three seats on the Mapleton board.

Rick Ellerbrock, John H. Smith and Brad Stull filed for three seats on the Northwestern board.

Abigail Fawcett and Tiffany C. Green are running for two seats on the New London board.

Patricia Sage and Eric D. Strouse filed for two positions on the West Holmes board.

On the Tri-County ESC board, R. Willard Welch filed for District 3 and James Bargar for District 4

Bevy of renewal issues for schools, townships, city, library

The majority of the local issues are renewals, with the exception of a bond issue for school construction in the Lucas Local School District; and a 0.75% income tax for five years for current expenses in the Mapleton Local School district.

Black River Local School District is asking for a renewal tax levy of 1.4 mills for five years for permanent improvements.

Loudonville-Perrysville Exempted Village School District has a 10-year renewal tax levy of six mills for emergency requirements on the ballot.

Northwestern Local School District is requesting a renewal tax levy for a continuing period of time of four mills for permanent improvements.

Other renewal tax levies are a five-year, 0.4-mill renewal levy for Greenlawn Union Cemetery in Green Township; a five-year, 1-mill renewal levy for current expenses for the Ashland Public Library; and a five-year, 1 mill renewal levy for fire protection and emergency medical services in the Jeromesville Community Fire District.

In Ashland County, a five-year 1.5-mill renewal levy for the operation of Dale-Roy programs and services, a three-year 2.1 mill renewal levy for the operation of Dale Roy programs and services; and in the city of Ashland, a five-year, 0.5 mill renewal levy for recreational purposes are on the ballot.

In Ashland City 3-C, the Bell Store is requesting a local liquor option of Sunday sales of wine and mixed beverages.The Village of Savannah is asking or a replacement tax levy of 3.9 mills for five years for current expenses.
