Hey Louisville, we know when and where you can get your first viewing of the latest film starring Kentucky native and Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence, and it's sooner than the national release.

There is a lot of buzz about "Don't Look Up," which is scheduled to premiere in theaters Friday and on Netflix on Dec. 24, but we've found some local theaters that will screen the film sooner.

Lawrence, 31, and Academy Award winner Leonardo DiCaprio, two of the most famous actors in the universe, star in the dark comedy. The film is about a pair of low-level scientists (Lawrence and DiCaprio) who discover a meteor on a path to destroy the earth. But when they set out on a media tour to warn the world, they find an unreceptive and unbelieving audience.

The sci-fi flick includes a star-studded cast featuring Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill, Timothee Chalamet, Cate Blanchett and Mark Rylance as well as Tyler Perry, Rob Morgan, Ron Perlman, Ariana Grande, Scott Mescudi, Himesh Patel, Melanie Lynskey, Michael Chiklis and Tomer Sisley.

Director Adam McKay ("Anchorman," "The Big Short," "Saturday Night Live") was able to assemble the all-star cast in large part due to the script's humorous warning about climate change.

Meryl Streep appears in a scene from the shot-in-Weymouth film "Don't Look Up," streaming Dec. 24 on Netflix. Scenes were also filmed in Brockton, Boston, Worcester and Framingham.

Lawrence, who is expecting her first child with husband Cooke Maroney, explained her interest in the movie to People magazine.

"I've always wanted to work with Adam McKay, I'm a huge fan. When I read the script, I thought it was genius. It's maybe the funniest script I've ever read, and I thought it was such a poignant way to get such an important point across, that people don't need to be fighting each other over science. We need to be fighting this collective war to save humanity together," she said.

The national debut in movie theaters is Friday but in Louisville, you can catch "Don't Look Up" a full day earlier on Thursday at 7:10 p.m. and 10:25 p.m. at Preston Crossing 16, 9700 Preston Crossing Blvd. and Cinemark Tinsletown, 4400 Towne Center Drive at 7:20 p.m.
