Here's when, where Wesleyville will be replacing aging sewer infrastructure with GAP funds

Erie County Executive Brenton Davis presented a check to Wesleyville Borough on Wednesday to help replace aging sewer infrastructure.

The $246,487 check, part of the county's Municipal GAP and Infrastructure Program, will go toward the replacement of the existing, deteriorated sanitary line, sewer manhole and sewer laterals between Center and North streets and Pearl Avenue; between Buffalo Road and south of South Street; and between South, Center and Market streets, according to County Public Information Officer Chris Carroll.

The existing sanitary sewer line, sewer manholes and sewer laterals are cracked, broken and contain misaligned joints, causing significant ground water infiltration and inflated treatment costs, according to Carroll.

The funds will be used to pay for construction, engineering and inspection costs. The project is expected to start in June and be completed by Aug. 31.

Municipal GAP funds come from the county’s share of American Rescue Plan dollars and are used to invest in water, sewer, and broadband infrastructure.
