Here's where and how your whole family can volunteer this season in Bucks County

'Tis the season for giving back, and if one has a family full of good-hearted Samaritans, there are nonprofits throughout Bucks County that will put to work an entire brood of volunteers.

Here's a rundown of Bucks County nonprofits and other agencies which will accept whole-family volunteers this holiday season, and how to sign up.

Quilts for Kids looking for families to deliver quilts to sick children

Quilts for Kids, a nonprofit based in Fairless Hills, is dedicated to transforming fabrics into patchwork quilts to comfort children facing serious illness, trauma, abuse, and natural disasters.

Quits for Kids is looking for families and teams to deliver quits to children's hospitals throughout the region this holiday season.

"Quilts for Kids is always looking for volunteers to deliver our quilts to various children’s hospitals in the New Jersey and Pennsylvania area," said Quilts for Kids Founder Linda Arye. "It’s a wonderfully uplifting experience.

"Unfortunately, they can’t hand-deliver to the children in the children’s hospitals, but they can know that they’re making a difference to the children in the hospital, receiving them."

Family Services Association of Bucks County

The Family Services Association of Bucks County has several outreach efforts, with its main office off Woodbourne Road in Middletown, and is always in need of volunteers.

There's room for an entire family of volunteers, as the family services needs kitchen assistants, help in stocking its food pantries and more hands to help deliver food.

Families looking to volunteer need to first fill out an online volunteer application, and then complete the volunteer orientation.

Gleaning for a good cause at Rolling Harvest Food Rescue

The Rolling Harvest Food Rescue in New Hope is looking to fill out its glean team this holiday season, which could include your entire family.

Gleaning is the process of harvesting surplus crops directly from the farmers’ fields to share with Bucks County residents in need.

Rolling Harvest Food Rescue hosts gleaning events every Wednesday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., now through Thanksgiving.

Groups of up to ten people can sign up to volunteer for gleaning and the other holiday-season volunteering efforts at Rolling Harvest Food Rescue.

Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County looking for families, groups to volunteer

Sustainable housing nonprofit Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County has two ways for groups to volunteer this holiday season.

Habitat Bucks will accept company volunteers, families, teams, social organizations, and entire schools to either sponsor a Team Volunteer Day or volunteer to work at one of Habitat Bucks' ReStore outlets in Fairless Hills, Warminster or Quakertown.

There are other entities throughout Bucks County that will put families and groups of volunteers to work.

  • Bucks County Opportunity Council: The opportunity council has several events coming up in which organizers need as many volunteers as it can get, which includes families and groups. The opportunity council needs staffing for the upcoming Warminster Day celebrations, the Bristol Fall Fest in early November and the Doylestown Jingle Bell Turkey Trot at the end of November. Families can sign up online to volunteer.

  • The Baby Bureau: The Warminster-based Baby Bureau services at-risk newborns with clothing and supplies, and will gladly accept whole-family volunteers. Baby Bureau Operations Director Chris Berkowitz said his organization relies on volunteers. The Baby Bureau has several methods of volunteering and donating to the cause.
