Here's who's moving on to the April general election after Tuesday's primary in Manitowoc County

MANITOWOC - Michael Cummings and Angela Myers will be moving on in the Manitowoc Common Council race for District 3 after Tuesday's primary election.

According to unofficial results from the City of Manitowoc Clerk's Office, Cummings earned 164 votes and Myers 163 while challengers Jason Johnston and Nathan Mahloch had 45 and 19 votes, respectively.

These totals are unofficial until a Board of Canvassers reviews and authenticates the ballots Monday.

The seat holds a two-year term and represents an eastern portion of the city that includes the downtown district and runs along the shore from Columbus Street to Waldo Boulevard.

In Manitowoc County, there was an 18% voter turnout for Tuesday's primary. The turnout was on the high end for a spring primary, Manitowoc County Clerk Jessica Backus said in a news release.

In the statewide primary for Justice of the Supreme Court, Manitowoc County voted primarily for Daniel Kelly. He had 4,781 votes from Manitowoc County voters, while Janet Protasiewicz had 4,044, Jennifer Dorow had 2,431 and Everett Mitchell had 565.

Statewide, Protasiewicz received 445,196 votes, Kelly 232,316, Dorow 209,586 and Mitchell 71,738.

The winners of Tuesday's primary will move on to the spring election, which will take place April 4. There are three contested races for Manitowoc City Council and one for the Manitowoc school board in that election.

Two Rivers City Council will also have three at-large seats up for grabs while two at-large seats will be on the ballot for the Two Rivers Board of Education.

Manitowoc Common Council

  • Incumbent Brett Vanderkin against Raymond Geigel in District 1

  • Incumbent Michael Cummings against Angela Myers in District 3

  • Incumbent Tim Boldt against Brian Anderson in District 7

Two Rivers City Council

  • Incumbents Darla LeClair, Adam Wachowski and Bonnie Shimulunas against Dean LaRose, Ron Abney and Shannon Derby for three "at-large" seats.

Manitowoc Board of Education

  • Incumbents Collin Braunel and Kathy Willis against Christopher Able and Paul Biff Hansen for two "at-large" seats.

Two Rivers Board of Education

  • Incumbents Randy Williams and Nicole Benthein against Wendy Brandt for two "at-large" seats.

How do I register to vote?

People can register to vote in person at their municipal clerk's office or online at myvote.wi.gov.

To register, people will need to provide proof of residence in the form of their driver's license, a bank statement, utility bill, etc.

Once a voter is registered, they can request an absentee ballot be mailed to them if they wish.

In-person absentee voting will start at some municipal offices Feb. 7 for the primary election.
