Here's why Keller Williams Indy Metro is a Top Workplace in Central Indiana 8 years running

It’s not a bad time to be selling houses. Interest rates remain low, and buyer demand is high in a seller’s market. Even so, Keller Williams Indy Metro’s ability to grow from 848team members around the outset of the pandemic in 2020 to 1,067 this year is a testament to the real estate firm’s commitment to its people, say agents.

That’s helped it attract, retain and grow talent even through the “Great Resignation,” which started in 2021, has seen a record number of workers quit their jobs across the U.S.

Josh Allen, who was Keller Williams Indy Metro’s 2021 rookie of the year based on sales, was one such beneficiary. He joined the organization Jan. 1 last year and couldn’t say enough about the company’s attention to developing team members; it’s something the company does, he added, in a flexible way that still allows people to have autonomy over their schedule.

That includes recorded training sessions, one-on-ones, peer reviews and mentorships, he said – plus a supportive, encouraging work culture that allows agents to thrive.

“Everybody is always so willing to help each other out, and we’re not hourly employees, so it’s taking time out of people’s days to do that,” Allen said.

Those who work at Keller Williams – a Top Workplace in Central Indiana eight years running – describe a culture of caring and sharing, where people are encouraged, given the tools they need to succeed and feel a part of a cohesive team. There’s no every-agent-for-themselves mentality here, according to team members.

“It’s not a competition, it’s more of a community,” said Rich Beckham, who’s been an agent with the company for more than six years. “Everybody in the building wants you to succeed. They provide the best technology, the culture’s amazing, leadership’s great. They’re in the office, in the trenches with you every day.”

The company got high marks from team members surveyed for being there for its people during tough times as well.

“These past couple years have proven that people are going through and continue to go through a lot of struggles,” said Jenny Jurek, an agent on The Evelo Team at Keller Williams, whose husband, Aaron, is also an agent. She identifies with the company’s stated value system that puts God and family above business. She said the company treats all employees like people who have lives outside work.

“Even when COVID first hit, our managing brokers and our office managers were calling us and checking on us,” Jurek said. “Whenever people feel supported in that way, they feel more connected and they’re likely to stay around.”
