The planes, A-10 Thunderbolt II fighter jets and KC-135 Stratotanker refueling tankers, will be touring Michigan to commemorate 100 years of U.S. aerial military doing mid-air refueling. Similar flights will be happening in other states with about 150 planes in all 50 states, 100 years after the Air Force's predecessor, the Army Air Service, developed a technique to refuel while flying, according to Stars and Stripes.

The first Michigan flyover is at Port Huron's Blue Water Bridge at 10:20 a.m., the jets will go to Sleeping Bear Dunes, Grand Rapids and Battle Creek Air National Guard Base before a 12:05 pass over the state Capitol in Lansing, according to a scheduled shared by the 127th Wing, based in Harrison Township.
