The day of love is fast approaching. Looking for a gift for your loved one on Feb. 14?
While we all know flower bouquets and chocolates are available at a variety of grocery stores in the Wilmington area, there's also a diverse selection of local flower shops that are worth checking out.
Here's a list of 9 local Wilmington florists ready for all your Valentine's Day floral needs.

This full-service florist has been serving the Wilmington community since 2012.
If you choose this floral shop, "you can expect great customer service, fresh flower arrangements, beautiful floral designs, plants, gift baskets and much more," according to their webpage.
Customers should put their Valentine's Day orders in as soon as possible. The shop can only take so many orders for the holiday, so an owner of the shop suggested ordering your arrangements by the first week of February.
"We deliver up to Sneads Ferry and all the way down to Supply," an owner of the shop said. "Shop local, local is always better."

Titling themselves as "an upscale shop," this florist offers custom designs that "stand out above the rest," according to their webpage.
Customers should be sure to place orders at least three days prior to major holidays, including Valentine's Day.
The shop serves Castle Hayne, Figure Eight Island, Wilmington, Wrightsville Beach, and the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW). Limited service is available in Leland and Hampstead.

Fiore Design House
Fiore Design House, doubling as a daily retail shop and a wedding and events florist, has been open in Wilmington since 2008.
"We pride ourselves on being on top of trends and creating unique floral designs for our customers," Tessa Butler, a designer with the shop, said in an email. "We love to invite people in to shop our retail items which include things like vases and pots, live plants, home decor, and of course fresh flowers!"
The shop is offering several Valetine's Day specials, "including our Sugar and Stems deal, which comes with a cookie from One Belle Bakery, and our Moodsetter arrangement, which comes with a luxury candle," Butler said.
Valentine's Day orders placed before Feb. 9 on the shop's webpage will receive 10% off with the code CUPID24.
The shop will take orders for the holiday through Feb. 14, but suggests customers get their orders in ASAP. Flowers and live plants are hand delivered by a Fiore team member to local Wilmington zip codes. Hardgoods available in the shop can be shipped nationally.
When asked what sets the shop apart, Butler said the Fiore team prides themselves in carrying "unique and only high-end blooms," highlighting that their customer service, communication, and passion for helping others also adds to their distinctive brand.

Flora Verdi
Flora Verdi has been open in Wilmington's Soda Pop District for ten years, Maria Cholanian, owner of the shop, said.
This "quaint boutique florist" takes pride in always delivering "best and freshest flowers," Cholanian said, highlighting that the shop's creative design is what sets them apart from the rest.
While Flora Verdi accepts orders up to 24 hours in advance on non-holidays, Cholanian suggests for Valentine's Day that customers order as soon as possible. "During Valentine's Day and Mother's Day weeks it is possible we are booked solid 3 (to) 5 days ahead," Cholanian said.
The shop has a wild selection of floral designs, including everyday bouquets, succulents, plants, orchids, and lilies. Flora Verdi even carries "hard to find seasonal flowers," according to its webpage.
"You have to try us once!" Cholanian said. The store offers "a variety of price points to suit all budgets, and highly recommends "that customers select “Designer’s Choice” when ordering what they want."

Julia's Florist
Two UNCW graduates, Jason and Katelyn Moore, are the current owners of Julia's Florist.
"Our focus is on providing our community with high-quality florals, gifts and décor along with the best customer service," reads the shop's webpage. Julia's has been in business in Wilmington for over 30 years.
The store is "brimming with both fresh-cut buckets of flowers and a large array of designed arrangements for the pick-and-run customers," according to the webpage. The shop pride themselves in offering a variety of arrangements and gifts suitable to any budget.

The original concept for this shop was created in 1984, according to the company's webpage. The business was officially registered in North Carolina in October 2023.
The shop's main goal is to ensure "a consistent variety of fantastic silk floral arrangements, along with unique, limited edition, and seasonal flower creations that fit any budget," according to the webpage.
LishayFloral delivers locally within Wilmington and in several surrounding areas.

Mother of Wild
This shop is a family owned and operated business in Porters Neck, Wilmington.
The owners' "son and daughter are normally in the shop with (them), making bouquets and talking to...customers," according to the store's webpage.
Mother of Wild has a few special Valentine's Day offerings, from their Local Lovers Basket, to their Baby Love Wrap, to dozen roses bundles. Pickup and delivery for Valentine's Day orders will be between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Feb. 13 or between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Feb. 14.
The shop is also hosting a Valentine's Day workshop for kids on Feb. 10 at 10 a.m. where children can handcraft candy filled pouches for their classmates.

Verzaal's Florist & Events
Last but certainly not least is Verzaal's Florist & Events. The full-service retail shop might be one of Wilmington's longest running floral establishments, serving the Wilmington community since 1931.
Brittney Brown, who has co-owned the establishment with her husband Brandon Brown for seven years, said Verzaal's is "stylish and eclectic."
This Valentine's Day, the store will be offering to customers what Brown referred to as "the works," including floral arrangements, chocolates, balloons, and more. Brown suggests placing orders a week in advance of Feb. 14 before delivery times begin to fill up.
However, Brown said the floral shop does off same-day delivery until 2 p.m.
"Beautiful flowers and exquisite custom arrangements to make a lasting impression are what we're all about at Verzaal's Florist & Events," reads the shop's About Us page. Verzaal's has floral designers with of experience who "can create the custom arrangement that matches your vision to a T."
