Here's who won Ozarks' Class 1-3 high school boys' basketball sectionals

The sectional rounds for Classes 1-3 were played on Monday night for boys' teams across the Ozarks. Here are the area teams who will go on to the quarterfinal round.

South Iron 49, Chadwick 46

Class 1

The Cardinals' season reached its end in a three-point defeat to South Iron — which came into the tournament as the No. 2 team in Class 1. South Iron has beaten Chadwick in the sectional round of the last three postseasons. Chadwick's year ends at 20-6 and with the Cardinals being winners of four districts in the last five years.

St. Elizabeth 49, Dadeville 45

Class 1

Dadeville won its first district championship since 2011 on Friday and its season has now come to a close. The Bearcats lost a close one to St. Elizabeth, which has made four-straight state semifinals. Dadeville led by as many as 11 in the second quarter but ended the half tied. The Hornets then jumped out in the second half and held off the Bearcats looking to extend their season.

Thomas Jefferson Independent 68, Rich Hill 58

Class 1

The Cavaliers will play on after breaking away late in a game that was tightly contested throughout. It took one of the Cavaliers' best scoring outputs of the season to do so against a Rich Hill defense that hadn't allowed more than 60 points in over a month. Thomas Jefferson will play St. Elizabeth in the quarterfinals for the third-straight postseason after dropping the previous two.

Weaubleau 76, Wellington-Napoleon 57

Class 2

Weaubleau is on to the quarterfinal round after a dominant win on Monday night. The Tigers got 33 points out of junior Gage Johnson and 14 from fellow juniors Blane Durnell and Dawson Stewart. The Tigers are still rolling after pulling off one of the bigger upsets of districts with their win over Ash Grove.

Hartville 55, Eugene 40

Class 2

The Eagles are back in the state quarterfinals after a 15-point win over Eugene which they dominated from pretty early on. Hartville hasn't allowed more than 43 points since a Feb. 6 win over Mountain View and it will travel to Warrensburg on Friday to play Marionville.

Marionville 49, Crane 44

Class 2

The Comets overcame a seven-point deficit at the end of the third quarter to rally back and beat the Pirates in a sectional thriller. Crane led for the majority of the game and even took a 12-point lead into halftime.

Sparta 74, Southwest (Washburn) 52

Class 3

One of the great seasons in Sparta's history will continue as the Trojans came away with a 22-point victory in the sectional round. The Jacob Lafferty-led team left no doubt as it led the entire game against a team it beat as recently as Feb. 10 during the regular season. The Trojans have now won eight-straight games heading into a game against a hot Thayer team that hasn't lost since the championship game of the Liberator Tournament in late January against Republic. Thayer took care of Steelville on Monday night.
