Here's who won the Ozarks' Class 1-3 high school girls' basketball district championships

A pair of area dynasties went down on Saturday during thrilling district championships that were played across the Ozarks. There were a handful of other thrillers as well with Classes 1-3 girls' programs finishing up district play.

Chadwick 50, School of the Ozarks 29

Class 1, District 3

Chadwick finished off the district sweep with its boys' and girls' teams by dominating in a 21-point win over School of the Ozarks. The Lady Cardinals are now winners of their last three districts.

Greenfield 50, Walnut Grove 39

Class 1, District 4

Greenfield scored 14 points over the final 3:45 in what was a one-point game at the time to knock out Walnut Grove and end its run of 12-straight district championships, a streak that included 10 runs to the semifinals and five state championship victories — with semifinal runs in each of the last four years. The win was Greenfield's first district championship in two years and it was its first win over Walnut Grove in more than 15 years. Marlie Wright scored 32 points for Greenfield.

Macks Creek 42, Wheatland 32

Class 1, District 5

The Lady Pirates are district champions for the first time in over a decade after holding off Wheatland late. They trailed by seven at the half when they were limited to just 12 points, including a three-point first quarter. The Lady Pirates have an average winning margin of 30 points per game this season.

Golden City 40, Liberal 35

Class 1, District 6

The Lady Eagles are district champs for the second-straight year after a competitive game that needed some late buckets to come away with the dub. The Lady Eagles trailed by one heading into the fourth quarter but played the great defense they've been playing all season in the fourth by limiting Liberal to just seven points

Norwood 47, Hartville 24

Class 2, District 10

Norwood used great defense throughout to knock off Hartville for its first district championship since 2020. The Lady Pirates limited Hartville to just five points at halftime while cruising to victory.

Fordland 73, Marionville 53

Class 2, District 11

After a competitive half that was within three at the break, Fordland limited Marionville to just four points in the third quarter while scoring 18 itself. It was enough to give Fordland its first district title since 2012. Fordland is rolling on an eight-game winning streak.

College Heights 55, Pierce City 42

Class 2, District 12

Up 11 at the break, College Heights broke away even further by limiting Pierce City to just three points in the third to create enough distance and come away with the win. The district title is the Lady Cougars' first since 2020. They've limited opponents to 42 or fewer points in each of the last three games.

Miller 59, Marion C. Early 35

Class 2, District 13

As the Lady Cardinals have been since the beginning of the month, they were dominant en route to a 24-point win over Marion C. Early for their fifth-straight district title. Miller is now allowing just 31 points per game and just under 30 points over its current nine-game winning streak.

Mansfield 42, Licking 34

Class 3, District 10

The Lady Lions are district champions for the first time since 2020. They beat a 22-6 team that was previously ranked No. 7 in Class 3 when Mansfield was tied for 10th in the most recent MBCA poll. Mansfield has only lost one game since Jan. 9 and is playing as well as anyone in the Ozarks right now.

Fair Grove 66, Strafford 56

Class 3, District 11

The Lady Eagles won their first district title since 2013 while knocking off a Strafford team that had won seven-straight district championships. Kameron Green scored a team-high 19 points in the win with Lauren Jones going for 30 for Strafford. Fair Grove has only lost one game in 2023.

Diamond 54, Lamar 53

Class 3, District 12

Diamond won its first district championship since 1986 and it did so in a thriller. The Lady Cats got a game-winning bucket from Lauren Turner in the final seconds and held on in a game that went back and forth the entire night. Diamond is now 22-5 this year and has won every game in February.
