Heritage High School Closes After A 3rd Of Staff Quarantined

LITTLETON, CO — Heritage High School in Littleton has temporarily suspended in-person classes after 127 people at the school went into quarantine, officials confirmed. One student and one staff member tested positive for the coronavirus; however many more may have been exposed.

Online classes will be closed through Sept. 11, and the school is set to reopen Sept. 14. Heritage High School has been operating under a hybrid schedule — in-person classes are offered twice a week and remotely for the remaining three days.

The school's principal, Stacey Riendeau, issued a letter Wednesday that explained why the school decided to close.

"Tri-County Health does not consider these two separate positive cases of COVID-19 at Heritage to be an outbreak," the letter read.

"However, because there are now a total of 27 staff members - about one third of the entire Heritage High School staff - who must quarantine for 14 days, we do not have enough staff in the school to provide adequate supervision and safety for our students."
