HERMOSA BEACH, CA — A three-day Virtual Sidewalk Sale kicks off Friday in Hermosa Beach with more than 100 retailers and eateries — all struggling to survive during the COVID-19 pandemic — offering online specials, local deliveries and curbside pick-ups.
“The silver lining of any crisis is how people come together," said Jeff Bonafede, co-founder of Pier Avenue's Uncorked Wine Shop, one of the Hermosa participating establishments.
The event, running Friday through Sunday, is a collaboration of the Downtown Hermosa Business Association, the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce, Truly Hermosa and the newly formed community-launched HermosaOne.com website.
Patrons can check out deals offered by local businesses and eateries, a listing of which can be found here at the HermosaOne site, launched by four Hermosa residents, Russ Gilbert, Jessica Accamando, William Jason and Megg Sulzinger. The goal is to to unite and support the community and local companies with live streaming events and volunteer opportunities.
Residents can tune into Instagram Live for live in-store virtual interviews with favorite retailers and restaurant owners, get a peek inside businesses and learn about the specials. Follow @dthermosabeach on both Instagram and Facebook for the latest news and details.
“Now more than ever our local businesses need your support. Please remember to shop small with us so that Hermosa still looks and feels like Hermosa when this is all over," said Lori Ford of Gumtree Shop & Cafe, the Aussie-inspired business on Pier Avenue. "Your local businesses appreciate your online orders more than you can ever imagine, they are what’s keeping us afloat"
