  • Georgia Senate candidate Herschel Walker is facing Raphael Warnock in a runoff election next week.

  • Walker, who has been endorsed by Trump, has not spoken to reporters for nearly two months.

  • An Axios reporter tweeted Wednesday that Walker's team isn't allowing journalists within 20 feet of him.

Georgia Senate candidate Herschel Walker's team isn't allowing journalists within 20 feet of him, according to an Axios reporter who is following his campaign trail.

"New rule at Herschel Walker events: journalists can't get within 20 feet of Walker afterward," politics reporter Emma Hurt tweeted on Wednesday, alongside a picture of yellow barricades set up around a Walker campaign bus.

Walker, a Republican who was endorsed by former President Donald Trump, is currently in a close race against Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock, after neither candidate received more than 50% of the vote in the November 8 midterms, setting up a runoff election next week.

Walker has been accused of hiding "secret" children and forcing former girlfriends to have an abortion. He has also made some unusual speeches, recently explaining to voters why he'd rather be a werewolf than a vampire.

Some of Walker's staff are worried that the candidate, who has become a lightning rod of controversy, is unable to make honest statements about his past, The Daily Beast reported.

"It would seem this [move] is to prevent journalists from shouting questions," Hurt wrote on Twitter. "Because Walker hasn't had a presser for nearly 2 months, press have been left with no other choice," she added.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported on November 29 that Walker hadn't taken questions from reporters on the campaign trail for almost two months.

A representative for Walker did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.
