BELLEVILLE, On. (WHTM) – Hendrix Lapierre’s hat trick propelled the Hershey Bears (39-9-0-2) over the Belleville Senators (23-20-2-3) 4-2 on Monday during their Canadian road trip.
Lapierre opened the scoring and followed it up by netting his second shorthanded goal of the season to put the Bears up 2-0 following the first period.
Lapierre posted his third goal, earning the natural hat trick, early in the second to extend the Bears lead to 3-0. Belleville answered to get on the board before the final period of play.
Chase Priskie notched his fifth of the season on a power play to open the third period.
The Bears entered into a five-minute penalty kill with 8:13 on the clock with a 4-1 lead and the Senators capitalized on the man advantage to cut the lead to 4-2.
However, it was too little too late and the Bears earned the road win behind Lapierre’s huge performance.
The shots were 26-21 in the Bears favor with Clay Stevenson going 20-for-22 for his 17th win of the season. Hershey was 2-for-4 on the power play.
Hershey will round out their five-game road trip on Wednesday at 7 p.m. against the Laval Rocket. The Bears return to the GIANT Center on Friday, Feb. 23 when they host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
