'He's loving it': Phillies fan, 5, goes viral with playful taunt of Astros fan during Game 1 of World Series

When the Houston Astros were up five runs against the Phillies during Game 1 of the World Series, an Astros fan, jokingly, said "Ha!" to Phillies fan Carson Wallace.

Carson is 5 and had traveled from Warminster to Minute Maid Park with his older brother and his dad for the game. And he would soon have his revenge. And at the same time become the little hero of Phillies fans watching the game back home.

As the Phillies made their comeback, Carson made his move, and the cameras captured it all.

He's representing the Phillies!

Carson, clad in an open white Phillies jersey with a "P" painted on his chest, took the opportunity to playfully throw it back at the Astros fan sitting next to him. He leaned his little body over the guy next to him, celebrated and yelled, "Let's go!"

It was pure Philly, and instantly became a classic moment that all fans could cheer.

The interaction of Carson was broadcast on national TV, leading to the almost 6-year-old boy going viral as the video made the rounds on social media almost immediately. It was one of the game's highlights as the team on the win Game 1 on Friday night in Houston.

"Everybody's like nice to me," Carson said adding that his friends on his school bus were handing out candy to him in the days since.

His baseball little league teammates were also carrying him around on their shoulders when he was interviewed by a local TV news station, too. He told one TV crew he was "vicious," followed by a mischievous giggle.

"We had the time of our lives," said Robert Wallace, Carson's father.

Carson's interaction goes viral on social media

A family friend in Houston was able to get tickets for Robert Wallace and his two sons. He took his older son, also named Robert, 9, and Carson, to the game.

Within minutes of the playful taunt and trash talk, Robert Wallace's phone was blowing up with friends who spotted them on TV.

The moment was something Phillies fans and baseball fans alike were talking about all over Twitter and social media. The "Let's go!" embodied the Philly spirit and the city's fans well-earned reputation as the rowdiest and loudest in the MLB.

"Yo, this is nuts," Carson's father remembered saying.

In the days since, the family's been responding to various news outlets, sharing Carson's story.

"He's loving it," his father said.

The experience and reaction to his son's TV moment has been positive so far, he said.

He and his wife, Kathleen, said Carson can dish out the trash talk in a positive way.

"He does it with this devilish grin," Kathleen said.

His brother, Robert, said he was unfazed by Carson's turn to the Astros fan.

"He'll trash talk anyone," he said.

Robert Wallace said the Houston fans, including the one Carson interacted with, were nice, but they seemed a bit more subdued than what Phillies fans are at their home games.

"It was a totally different vibe," he said.

Wallace family creates memories in Houston

While Carson enjoyed the time in the limelight, he and his family were able to create long-lasting memories that day. On Tuesday afternoon, Carson and his brother, both big sports fans, were playing basketball in front of their home.

"That was more fun than I expected," Robert said of the experience.

Robert and Carson, who both go to Willow Dale Elementary School, were able to get pictures and autographs from players after the game, including Rhys Hoskins.

"They treated us like gold," Robert said.

Robert Wallace and his two sons didn't spend much time in Houston. They took the 3½-hour flight to Houston and landed early Friday afternoon.

They stayed the whole game, which went into an extra inning, and got back to their hotel late. They hopped on a 6 a.m. flight to get back so Carson could play in his football game with the Willow Grove Bears Football Club.

Kathleen Wallace said she was in constant contact with her husband in the minutes leading up to the game's start. Robert Wallace made it to the game with his kids by 11:45 a.m. after landing in Newark, New Jersey. Carson still had the "P" painted on his chest.

The Wallace family does not have tickets for the remaining World Series games. Robert Wallace said he's OK with that, and that the experience in Houston was more than enough.

"It's something they'll never forget," he said.

Carson was more specific, saying he would remember it for at least "one year," until he's seven, and his brother said he'd remember it until he was around 50.

"They're wild kids," their father said.
