A Hesperia man was killed when his motorcycle collided with an SUV near Apple Valley High School.

At 7:13 p.m. Sunday, deputies and Apple Valley Fire personnel responded to a vehicle versus motorcycle collision on Bear Valley Road, west of Navajo Road.

At the scene, deputies determined that a tan Chevrolet Trailblazer, driven by Ramon Medina, 61, of Apple Valley, was eastbound on Bear Valley Road approaching Navajo Road. Meanwhile, a green Kawasaki motorcycle, driven by Deondre Hearn, 24, was westbound on Bear Valley Road from Navajo Road.

Medina made a left turn into a shopping center parking lot in front of Hearn, causing the two vehicles to collide.

Hearn was thrown from his motorcycle, authorities said. He suffered major injuries and died at the scene.

Medina was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, sheriff’s officials said.

Drugs or alcohol were not a factor in this crash. Investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department of Major Accident Investigative Team arrived and are conducting an investigation.

Bear Valley Road between Navajo and Algonquin roads was closed for about four hours while investigators processed the scene for evidence.

Anyone with any information or anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact Deputy R. Grissom at the Apple Valley sheriff’s station at 760-240-7400 or sheriff’s dispatch at 760-956-5001.
