A 42-year-old Hesperia man who barricaded himself in his home with a firearm was shot and killed on Tuesday by San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies after he charged them while holding a weapon, the department reported.

At 11:25 a.m. on Tuesday, deputies responded to a domestic violence call in the 8900 block of Ninth Avenue in Hesperia. When deputies arrived on the scene, Anthony Nunez met them at the door, the department reported.

Deputies were able to clear the house of other people, but Nunez barricaded himself in a room, the department said.

Deputies tried to convince Nunez to drop his weapon and give up, but Nunez charged the deputies, who then shot and killed him, the department reported.

The report did not include how many times Nunez was shot or how many deputies fired their weapons but did say deputies did try life-saving measures on Nunez after he was shot.

No deputies or bystanders were injured during the incident, the department reported.
