Hey Boise, leap into February with laughs, either with comedians or running in undies

Have you noticed all the teddy bears and heart-shaped boxes of chocolates in stores lately? Maybe not, because we’ve been hunkered down in our houses a lot thanks to record-breaking snow.

But since most stores start pushing all that lovey-dovey stuff as early as December, we are all aware of the upcoming love-it-or-hate-it holiday: Valentine’s Day.

And if you are one to celebrate, it’s time to start thinking about those dinner reservations, cards, flowers, etc. — if you have not done so already. Or hit up the flower section of your local grocery store the morning of. You won’t be alone.

For those looking for something a little less traditional, Zoo Boise is holding Woo at the Zoo on Thursday, Feb. 15. You can learn more than you ever wanted to know about animal courtship and breeding behavior. The guided after-hours tour includes appetizers. Beer and cider can be purchased separately.

Or perhaps you wanna drop your pants and run around outside with a bunch of people? No, it’s not a dare. It’s for charity. The Cupid’s Undie Run is invading downtown Boise again on Saturday, Feb. 10. The mile-ish run “raises awareness of neurofibromatosis (NF), a genetic disorder that causes tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body and fundraises for NF research through the Children’s Tumor Foundation (CTF),” according to a news release.

If you could not care less about the candy heart holiday, there are other events to jump-start your February. Laugh out loud with Steve Treviño (Feb. 3, The Egyptian Theatre), Jeff Dunham (Feb. 9, ExtraMile Arena), and Mark Normand (Feb. 16, Morrison Center).

Take in a music concert or two. Foo Fighters tribute band Fooz Fighters will play the Knitting Factory on Feb. 3. Skid Row and Buckcherry will co-headline at the Revolution Concert House on Feb. 27.

And if you wanna brave a road trip, head to McCall to view the snow sculptures at the Winter Carnival. You have some time to plan, since the festival runs Feb. 23-25 this year.

Note: Check with event websites or social media before attending. Events might be canceled or postponed after press deadline.
