Hey, NASCAR fans! Looking for go-karts in Daytona Beach? Here's what you need to know

If you’re in town to watch NASCAR’s premiere drivers take to the legendary Daytona International Speedway in Saturday's Coke Zero Sugar 400, you’re likely the target audience for a go-kart attraction.

If you’d like to get behind the wheel of a miniature racer, there are plenty of options in Daytona Beach.

Here’s what you need to know about area go-kart racing attractions:

Are there go-kart tracks close to Daytona International Speedway?

Absolutely.

The newly opened K1 Speed Indoor Go-Kart Racing offers racing in state-of-the-art go-karts at Volusia Square mall, only ½-mile east of Daytona International Speedway on International Speedway Boulevard.

K1 Speed is a California-based company that operates more than 70 go-kart tracks in the United States and seven countries globally. In Daytona Beach, the company took over operation of the attraction formerly known as Speedway Indoor Karting in May in a repurposed space that had once been home to a Toys R Us retail store.

The company invested in nearly 50 new adult and junior-sized go-karts, a fleet of Italian-made Superleggero electric vehicles that can reach speeds of 45 mph for adults, 20 mph for operation by children at least 48 inches tall.

K1 Speed Daytona Beach is the first of two new centers the company is opening in Florida, with a West Palm Beach center slated to open later this year. That will increase the company's Florida presence to five locations that also include Hollywood, Medley (near Miami) and Orlando.

The Daytona Beach center is the company’s first with a two-level track in Florida.

It’s not the only go-kart option at Volusia Square mall, 2455 International Speedway Blvd.

Go-karting also is among the entertainment options at Urban Air Trampoline & Adventure Park, which also offers an array of additional kid-friendly activities that include laser tag, climbing walls, trampolines, a Slam Dunk Zone, Battle Beam and tumble track.
