Hi-Pointe Drive-In to open its second restaurant in southwestern Illinois

St. Louis-based Hi-Pointe Drive-In has announced plans for a new location in Edwardsville.

The company’s seventh restaurant, the second in Illinois, is scheduled to open this summer at 6147 Trace Parkway Drive, according to a press release.

“Edwardsville is a community that strongly supports local hospitality and we are excited to offer a gathering place for people to come hang, enjoy a quality burger and get hi on Hi-Pointe,” co-owner Ben Hillman stated in the release.

“We’ve been eyeing Edwardsville as the home for our next location for a few months now, we believe it’s a thriving community that we’re proud to now be a part of.”

Hi-Pointe is known for serving up “all-natural, all-Angus smash burgers, sandwiches, shakes, and mouthwatering, wild specials,” stated the release.

Specific menu offerings include:

  • Smash Burger: made from chuck, brisket and short rib;

  • Taco Burger: fresh patties with taco spice seasoning, Cool Ranch Doritos, Chili Cheese Fritos, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, avocado ranch and Mission Taco Joint sauce;

  • Strawberry Gooey Butter Cake milkshake;

  • Mid Rivers Monsterloin: a “ginormous 16-ounce fried pork tenderloin breaded with Cheez-its, mayo, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle and onion.

Guests will also be able to enjoy their meals in the same “cool, edgy aesthetic of the other locations with bold colors, a subtle nod to nostalgia, neon lights, eclectic decorative pieces,” the release included.

And they will have spacious patio seating too.

Community activities coordinated with local partners leading up to the restaurant’s opening are in the works.

There are also plans for Hi-Pointe Edwardsville to work with Glik’s, a staple in the Edwardsville community for more than 50 years, to hold a pop-up event with a “local charitable giveback component,” according to the release.

The Hi-Pointe team, which also brought Sugarfire Smokehouse and Chicken Out to the area, will work with Plocher Construction to complete the Edwardsville location.

Hi-Pointe Edwardsville is the second location to open in Illinois.

The O’Fallon restaurant, at 630 W. Highway 50, opened in April 2022.

Hours for Hi-Pointe Edwardsville will be 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday-Saturday.
