Dead To Me is all anyone's talking about right now, but even those who binge-watched the series the minute it came out may not have noticed a very subtle hidden reference to the film Anchorman.

For those who haven't put two and two together yet, Christina Applegate, who plays Jen in Dead To Me, starred alongside while Will Ferrel and Adam McKay in the film - who both happened to work on the Netflix series as executive producers. And, by all accounts, may have sneaked in some of their old school comedy flair.

In episode eight of the series, Jen attempts to find every registered owner of a '66 Mustang in Orange County. On her search, she ends up at Andrew's house, where she comments on his wooden art. "Made that myself. It's mahogany," he says, while Jen touches it and responds, "Hm. That's a quality wood."

Viewers noticed that Andrew's character has a lot in common with Anchorman's Ron Burgundy - the moustache, the scotch, the mustang. Still with me?

“Considering Applegate played opposite Will Ferrell in Ron Burgundy, I think it’s slightly more than coincidental,” wrote one fan on Reddit. Twitter definitely agreed:

Okay, we said it's subtle. But cool, right?

Dead To Me is currently inspiring a gazillion fan theories, and users are particularly keen to guess who killed Steve. Tbh, most of them don't add up - but this one about Karen with the Mexican lasagne is particularly wild.

We need some answers, please.
