There is nothing quite like the scent of freshly baked pizza to entice the senses and awaken those persistent pangs of hunger.

The aroma of garlic and parmesan dough mingled with notes of caramelized cheese strikes your nose as soon as you walk into Dameon's Pizza in Dewey.

Located at 1040 N Osage Ave in Dewey, this little red barn-turned-pizza takeout joint is right on U.S. 75 across from Dewey High School.

"With our lunch deal of two slices of pizza and a can of pop for $5, we were slammed all spring at lunchtime with Dewey high schoolers," owner Christy Howard laughed.

A family affair, Howard opened Dameon's Pizza – named after her youngest son – on March 2. The business has already developed a loyal following and generated positive Google reviews.

"We sold 234 pizzas last Friday," Howard's son, Jesse Billy, told me while I waited for my pizza order.

One of the fans of this fledgling pizza joint called the EE to request a review, and as avid pizza lovers, we were happy to oblige. Howard swears it wasn't her.

Each order takes only 15-20 minutes from ordering time to be freshly boxed and ready to go.

For our order, my husband and I chose the aptly named "All the Stuff" pizza on a cauliflower crust, a "Bring the Meat" calzone and an order of cheesy sticks.

Jesse Billy chatted with us affably while we waited and even gave us both a chance to make a winning cornhole toss for 10% off our order (we didn't make it, but I think they still gave us a 5% discount).

Our pizza was piping hot when we got it home and dug in. Howard mentioned that she went out of her way to source cauliflower pizza dough with some "heft" to it, which did not disappoint.

For those looking for a gluten-free option but don't want that cracker-like gluten-free consistency, this dough is a winner-winner-chicken-dinner.

It was fluffy, puffy and delicious. The pizza was piled high with cheese and toppings — Dameon's Pizza does not skimp. This is substantial pizza made to satisfy.

There were plenty of toppings and a little bit of everything the pizza joint has to offer, including pepperoni, sausage, olives, peppers, banana peppers, and mushrooms. I would describe it as an elevated supreme.

Howard sources her Oklahoma-made pizza dough from Dough Boys out of Depew, Oklahoma, trucked into the Dewey location once a week. Each crust is infused with garlic butter and parmesan, which is why it is such a delicious bite.

The cheese sticks were just as good as the pizza and calzone, with that crusty, caramelized cheese around the corners that makes cheese sticks oh-so-good and just a little addictive.

When we got our pizza home, I was hoping for hearty, tasty, satisfying pizza and that's exactly what I got with Dameon's Pizza.

With great prices to go with their great pizza, it's worth the extra drive time (if you live in Bartlesville) to pop up to Dewey and grab a couple of pizzas instead of ordering carryout.
