Cheech and Chong are in “high” demand in Hollywood again.

The pioneering comic duo, whose 1978 film “Up in Smoke” is considered a cult classic, will be the subject of a big screen biopic.

Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong have partnered with Todd Lieberman’s Hidden Pictures for a feature film based on their pot-loving origin story, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Lieberman, named among the 30 Most Powerful Film Producers in Hollywood, is the producer behind a string of films grossing more than $1 billion worldwide, including David O. Russell’s Oscar winner “The Fighter,” the romantic comedy “The Proposal” and the recently released “Shotgun Wedding,” in which Marin appears.

During the 1970s and ‘80s, Marin and Chong became the poster children for the rising cannabis culture through their popular stand-up shows, comedy albums and independent films. Following the success of “Up in Smoke,” the funnymen fronted 1980′s “Cheech and Chong’s Next Movie” and “Nice Dreams” in 1981.

Newcomer Kristian Mercado has been tapped to direct the duo’s untitled project, written by Danya Jimenez and Hannah McMechan.

“We are excited to show the world how two dudes from completely different backgrounds got together, changed comedy, and made cannabis mainstream!” said Marin and Chong, who will serve as co-executive producers of the film.
