High-end hotels in Charlotte get nod from Forbes Travel Guide

The 2023 Forbes Travel Guide is out, and a posh uptown hotel has joined the ranks of local establishments making the prestigious list. New to the feature is The Ivey’s Hotel, which made its debut in the spring of 2017 and is no stranger to accolades.

To rate properties, the travel guide sends anonymous inspectors to each property for at least two nights, evaluating every aspect of the experience based on hundreds of criteria. Emphasis is placed on service, though facilities are considered, too. Five-star establishments are “outstanding, often iconic properties” with “virtually flawless service,” the publication notes. Four-star properties are “exceptional,” and recommended spots are “excellent” with consistent quality in service and facilities.

The Ivey’s earned the recommended designation, along with The Ballantyne, a Luxury Collection Hotel, and The Ritz-Carlton, Charlotte. The latter two have made the list before.

In all, there are 25 establishments across the Carolinas that made the cut. Three hotels in the two states achieved the five-star designation.
