High fashion and a first: Luxury boutique Kirna Zabête coming to Green Hills

High fashion womenswear retailer Kirna Zabête is set to open a Nashville location next year, promising the city's largest multi-brand boutique with a curated assortment from the biggest international design brands.

Owner and founder Beth Buccini personally selects every item for sale at Kirna Zabête, which is set for a March debut in Nashville at 2001 Warfield Drive in Green Hills – formerly home to party supply retailer Shindigs & Celebrations.

The luxury store offers unique pieces by top labels, including Carolina Herrera, Proenza Schouler, Manolo Blahnik and Jil Sander.

Previously an assistant fashion editor at Mirabella magazine and fashion editor at New York magazine, Virginia-native Buccini's style expertise has landed her partnerships with Target, Nine West, Gilt and Birkenstock. She also designs an exclusive Kirna Zabête line of clothes and accessories that can be purchased in stores and online.

Buccini was supported by broker Elliott Kyle to secure the 4,200-square-foot space in Green Hills.

Kirna Zabête got its start in New York City’s SoHo district in 1999.

In addition to Soho, the boutique also has locations in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania; East Hampton, New York; and Palm Beach, Florida. A Kirna Zabête location in Miami’s Design District is planned for late 2023, while a second New York location on Madison Avenue will open in late 2022.

Designer Steven Gambrel, of SR Gambrel, collaborated with Buccini on all the locations and will be designing the upcoming Nashville store. Nashville-based Daniels + Chandler Architects will oversee architecture for the building.

We sat down with Buccini for a chat about her boutique and its addition to Nashville's growing fashion scene.

Here's what she had to say:

Why Nashville?

Buccini: I opened my first store ... because I saw a void in the market and thought shopping could be better. With every location I’ve opened since then, I’ve had the same idea. I like to go to places where I know there is a demand, and I think our edit will be well-received. My husband’s company, the Buccini Pollin Group, owns the Virgin Hotel in Nashville. As he was traveling there for construction, he kept talking about how the city was just exploding. I decided to see for myself, and I fell in love.

What was the process like searching for the Nashville Kirna Zabête location? How long did it take?

Buccini: Searching for the location was super fast. I had researched the city immensely and toured it on my own several times. It took just one trip with an amazing broker. Through a mutual friend, I was introduced to Elliott Kyle who showed me all around the city. I chose the stand-alone space in Green Hills because I love the neighborhood and the ease of parking. The size is large enough to be able to make a statement, and my super-talented interior designer Steven Gambrel and I are having a lot of fun envisioning our dream space.

What are you most looking forward to about opening in Nashville?

Buccini: I can’t wait to get to know Nashville even better. I’m from the South originally, so every time I’m there, it feels like a bit of home. I adore the vibe, the people and the food. Nashville is positively electric.
