HIGH HOPES: Area prep tracksters charge into state meets Friday for final season hurrahs
Several E-E area prep athletes enter this weekend’s scheduled state track meets as favorites to gravitate to the medals podium.
Some are championship contenders.
Barnsdall, Copan and Wesleyan Christian School thinclads compete Friday and Saturday at the Class A meet at Western Heights; Dewey, Caney Valley, Oklahoma Union, Pawhuska and Nowata contenders will battle at the Class 4A and 2A meets hosted by Catoosa High.
Some of the area dynamos are seeded No. 1 in their event, or in their heat/flight, making them one of the title favorites.
The list of these athletes includes:
Class A girls: Maryann Alvey, Wesleyan Christian, 3200m run.
Class 2A girls: Landry O’Brien, Oklahoma Union, 300m hurdles.
Class 2A boys: None.
Class 4A girls: None.
Class 4A boys: Braden Garrison, Dewey, shot put.
Area battlers seeded No. 2 in their event, or their flight/heat, include:
Class A girls: Kenzie Hendrix, Wesleyan Christian, 3200m and 1600m.
Class A boys: None
Class 2A girls: Hannah Reynolds, Pawhuska, 400m dash; Sara McKinney, Oklahoma Union, pole vault; Averie Huber, Caney Valley, shot put; Pawhuska 4x100m relay; Oklahoma Union 4x400m relay.
Class 2A boys: Dalton Hurd, Pawhuska, 100m dash; Jaiden Kennard, Oklahoma Union, 110m high hurdles.
Class 4A girls: None.
