High school basketball Game of the Week: Apex Friendship girls thump Green Level, 68-46
They started the day with one loss apiece, ranked right next to one another in the latest News & Observer/Charlotte Observer North Carolina Top 20.
Apex Friendship and Green Level are also conference foes, and sitting with a combined record of 29-2, the winner of Tuesday’s first meeting of the season between the pair was an important one for playoff positioning.
Advantage, Apex Friendship, which battled to a halftime lead and then pulled away after the break to register a resounding 68-46 win over Green Level to run its conference record to 6-1.
The Patriots’ lone loss this season is a conference setback to another Top 20 squad, Panther Creek. That rematch is on Jan. 28. Green Level gets a second chance against Apex Friendship on the last day of the season, Feb. 11. The Gators’ only other loss so far this season also came at the hands of Panther Creek, which they see again on Feb. 4, a week before hosting Apex Friendship in the finale.
