(girls) Ardrey Kell (3-1) vs. No. 12 Indian Land (1-2), in Hickory Tavern/Chick-fil-A Classic at Ardrey Kell, 4:30 p.m. – This is part of a two-day event (Friday and Saturday), featuring two boys’ and two girls’ games at Ardrey Kell. Ardrey Kell’s Molly Burns is averaging nearly 20 points a game, and Autumn Washington is pulling down 10 rebounds per contest. Indian Land is a team of the future, with eight sophomores, two freshmen and an eighth-grader on the roster. Amelia Williams and Skylar Young each averaged more than 10 points a game last season.

(girls) No. 7 Myers Park (4-0) vs. No. 8 North Mecklenburg (3-0), in Title IX Classic at Myers Park, 5 p.m. – The Mustangs and Vikings meet in the finale of a three-game Saturday session. Myers Park has four starters back from a 21-win team, led by SoMeck 4A Player of the Year Jerin Truesdale (13.7 ppg). North Mecklenburg won 27 last season and has several returning regulars, but it’s a newcomer, 6-0 Lenise Joseph, who is getting attention. She has several Division 1 offers.

(boys) No. 1 Myers Park vs. Word of God, in Coaches Vs. Cancer Classic at First Flight High, 7:30 p.m. – On Friday night, Myers Park will face a big, fast opponent in John Marshall. On Saturday, the Mustangs face a smaller but equally fast foe. Wod of God is led by 6-3 guards Trevor Best (25 ppg) and Howard Tre-Herbert (13 ppg). This is the next-to-last game on a lengthy Saturday schedule at First Flight High.

(boys) No. 3 Central Cabarrus (1-0) vs. West Cabarrus (0-2), in CabCo Classic at Cox Mill, 8:30 p.m. – With 6-10 Joshua Dalton and several returning starters from a 32-0 state title team, Central Cabarrus figures to be a big favorite in this finale of the eight-game CabCo Classic for Cabarrus County teams. But it will be a chance for West Cabarrus’ standout 6-3 wing, Gianni Vines, to show his stuff. Vines averaged 13.2 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.0 assists a game last season.
