Saturday’s previews
(Boys) Davidson Day (13-6) at No. 6 Providence Day (17-6), 2:30 p.m. — Isaiah Denis, who scored 30 points in a Jan. 12 game, leads the visiting Patriots, who, like Northside Christian (see below), will be playing for the third straight day. Providence Day, which knocked off Cannon School on Tuesday, is 7-2 since Christmas. You might want to arrive early, for the 1 p.m. girls’ game between Providence Day and Winston-Salem Christian. The Chargers are 16-6 and led by Jaida McClure, who scored 35 earlier this month against Charlotte Country Day.
(Girls) No. 6 Myers Park (18-0) at A.C. Reynolds (13-1), 1 p.m. — The unbeaten Mustangs head to Asheville for a matinee girls-boys doubleheader. Senior Jerin Truesdale leads the Mustangs in scoring, but freshman Amari Barner (9.1 points, 4.8 rebounds) is giving strong support. A.C. Reynolds’ only loss this season was to top-ranked Lake Norman on Dec. 2.
(Boys) No. 11 Northside Christian (19-10) at No. 12 Victory Christian (19-7), 2 p.m. — The visiting Knights will be playing their third game in three days. They are led by Kyrell Shaw (19.6 points a game). Victory Christian has four players averaging in double figures. Both teams are prime private school state championship contenders.
