A round of strong storms is expected in the Charlotte-area Friday afternoon, along with possible tornadoes. Winds could be as high as 39 mph Friday and as high as 28 early Saturday.

In response, many school systems, including Charlotte-Mecklenburg, Cabarrus and Union County, have postponed games for Friday. At least one private school game — Charlotte Latin at Covenant Day — has been postponed as well.

Lincoln County schools has announced that scheduled athletic events will continue. Gaston County schools has not made any announcement, so games for now are still on as scheduled.

We will have updated schedules here, so check back often.
