High school basketball: Intriguing matchups highlight Central Section playoffs

The Road to Selland Arena begins Tuesday and Wednesday for high school boys and girls basketball teams in the Central Section.

The section revealed the playoff pairings Saturday afternoon and the Clovis North boys and Clovis West girls are the top seeds in Division I.

Clovis North shared the TRAC title with Clovis West. The Golden Eagles defeated the Broncos 60-59 on Friday night.

The Clovis West girls are the defending section champions.

Other top seeds in the other divisions include Dinuba boys (D-II), North boys (D-III), Fresno Christian boys (D-IV), Coalinga boys (D-V), Firebaugh boys (D-VI), Clovis West girls (D-I), Monache girls (D-II), Bakersfield Christian girls (D-III), Santa Ynez (D-IV), Hanford West girls (D-V) and Kern Valley girls (D-VI).

Among the intriguing matchups are No. 13 Kingsburg at No. 4 Sunnyside playing in Division II boys. No. 10 McLane at No. 7 Central Valley Christian meet in Division III boys.

On the girls side, No. 14 Selma will visit No. 3 Roosevelt in Division III.

The boys and girls playoffs tips off at 6 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.

The championships will be played on Feb. 24.
