Bussell not enough

GROSSE ILE − Grosse Ile overcame seven 3-pointers and 24 points from Monroe's Sophia Bussell in a 60-48 win Friday night.

"Bussell had a great game with 24, but too many team turnovers could not close the gap in the fourth," Monroe coach John Mason said.

Monroe led 11-8 after the first quarter but fell behind 26-19 at halftime and could not recover. The Trojans finished the regular season 6-16.

Huron wins at buzzer

NEW BOSTON − Ethan Woolery hit a winning 3-pointer at the final buzzer to lift New Boston Huron to a 54-51 win over Allen Park Inter-City Baptist on Friday.

Inter-City erased a 38-32 deficit in the fourth quarter and tied the game at 51-51 with 8 seconds to go. Huron point guard Kyle Kantola raced the ball up the court in the final seconds and found Woolery for the winning shot.

"We've been learning to win," Huron coach Ted Tackett said. "You have to learn how to overcome adversity and they did that tonight. We were up 8-12 points pretty much the whole game. They hit critical 3s at times that kept them right where they needed to be to do what they did, but we still overcame it."

Woolery finished with 21 points and Kantola 13 to pace 7-13 Huron.

Onsted trumps Dundee

DUNDEE − Dundee could not play spoiler Friday night as Onsted rolled to an outright league title with an 81-56 win.

The Wildcats finished atop the Lenawee County Athletic Association at 13-1.

"They just did not miss in the first half," Dundee coach Jay Haselschwerdt said. "You could tell they were motivated and wanted to win the league title outright, and that’s what they did. I was happy with us offensively, but we didn’t have a lot of answers for them on defense."

Braiden Whitaker (11), Drew Bolster (10), and Adam Spare (10) scored in double figures for the Vikings (10-10).
