High school boys basketball: Edwardsburg, Bucks' Young lead Michigan boys power rankings

Top Teams

Edwardsburg (6-2)

Games this week: January 18, vs. Portage Central; January 21, vs. Niles.

Edwardsburg rebounded from a 46-42 loss to Dowagiac 10 days ago by winning three times last week, beating Otsego (67-52), Vicksburg (66-46) and Wyoming Lee (66-47). The Eddies continue to get good balance with five players averaging between 8.2 and 12.3 points per game.

Cassopolis (2-4)

Games this week: January 18, at Bloomingdale; January 21 vs. Marcellus.

After letting a 17-point lead slip away in a 59-58 loss to Centreville, Cassopolis snapped a four-game losing streak by overwhelming Bangor 73-17. The Rangers hopefully can string together some wins with Bloomingdale and Marcellus next on the schedule, two teams who have combined for just one win.

Brandywine (4-3)

Games this week: January 21, vs. South Haven

Brandywine shook off a 74-52 loss No. 7-ranked Benton Harbor with a thrilling 48-47 victory over arch-rival Buchanan, scoring the game's final seven points. With leading scorer Nate Orr having a foul-prone off night, Michael Palmer, Carson Knapp and Jeramiah Palmer picked up the slack with 10 points apiece. The schedule won't get any easier for Brandywine with upcoming games against New Buffalo (6-0) and Berrien Springs (5-2).
