Feb. 23—PRINSBURG — The Central Minnesota Christian boys basketball team used efficient offense to move past Renville County West on Monday.

The Bluejays shot 55% from the field in their 73-53 Camden Conference victory from Central Minnesota Christian School.

CMCS is ranked 10th in Class A while RCW is ninth. Coupled with the Jaguars' 75-66 home victory on Feb. 11, the two teams split the regular-season series.

The Bluejays move into a tie with the Jaguars for second place in the conference's North Division with a 9-2 record.

Lac qui Parle Valley, ranked fourth in Class A, tops the standings at 11-0 after defeating Dawson-Boyd 75-43 in Madison on Monday.

The home team opened the game drilling seven of its first 10 field-goal attempts. Ethan Bulthius knocked down a 3-pointer to give the hosts a 17-12 advantage with 9 minutes, 25 seconds left in the first half.

RCW responded out of a timeout with a basket by Riley Ashburn. From there, it was all Bluejays.

CMCS built up a 34-17 cushion by scoring on eight of its next nine possessions. A pair of baskets from junior Case Mulder, a floater from senior Blake Greenwaldt and a 3-pointer from junior Ben Van Eps were part of a 17-4 surge.

Another Van Eps bucket gave the home team its biggest first-half lead at 36-17.

RCW would not cut the deficit into single digits the rest of the way. The visitors shot 37% from the floor compared 59% during the Feb. 11 meeting. Despite attempting 14 more free throws than their opponent, the Jaguars were only 11-for-23 from the line.

Mulder led all scorers with 26 points and added six assists. He made 10 of his 14 field-goal attempts and was 4 of 4 on free throws. Greenwaldt and Bulthuis each had 14 points. Greenwaldt grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

Brandon Hoberg paced the Jaguars with 20 points. Ashburn finished with 16 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals.

CMCS plays Thursday vs. BOLD at Bird Island.

RCW's next scheduled game is 3:30 p.m. Saturday vs. Russell-Tyler-Ruthton in Renville.
