High school football kickoff altered by dangerous heat. Here’s the new Week 1 schedule

An excessive heat warning issued by the National Weather Service in St. Louis extends through Friday, which was the planned kickoff for the new high school football season in Illinois.
Most of the metro-east’s athletic directors have heeded the warning, adjusting the week 1 schedule beyond the forecast triple-digit temperatures and soaring humidity.

Edwardsville plays host to Jackson (MO) at 8 p.m. Friday, Augusts 25 (Pending weather)
Breese Central visits Highland at 8 p.m. Friday, August 25
Triad hosts Mattoon at 8 p.m. Friday, August 25
O’Fallon will play host to Granite City at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 26
Belleville East welcomes Collinsville at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 26
Mascoutah visits Belleville West at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 26
Althoff visits Burroughs at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 26
Wood River visits Gateway STEM at 12 p.m. Saturday, August 26
Columbia plays host to Mater Dei at 7 p.m. Saturday, August 26
Waterloo welcomes Mount Vernon at 7 p.m. Saturday, August 26
Red Bud visits Pickneyville at 7 p.m. Saturday, August 26
Alton will travel to Cahokia High School at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 26
