High School Football | Marlington names Phil Mauro as head coach
The Marlington Board of Education has approved the hiring of veteran Phil Mauro as head coach.
Mauro has been a head coach for several schools since 1982 in Ohio, North Carolina and Texas.
He won 76 games in 11 seasons at Jackson High School from 1996-2006, and before that, he went 9-11 at New Philadelphia over two seasons. Mauro has also coached at Carrollton (8-12) for two seasons, Columbus DeSales, Lancaster, Canal Winchester and Sherwood Fairview.
His Fairview team went 3-7 last season. Mauro has a career record of 199-155.
"This is a slam dunk hire," said Marlington athletic director Steve Miller. "His record speaks for itself."
