High school football: New No. 2 team, huge matchup involving The Bee’s ranked teams
Big matchups loom in the final week of high school football regular season in the Central Section.
But before those games take place, The Fresno Bee’s latest rankings have some changes near the top.
That is because then-No. 2 Liberty-Bakersfield dropped to No. 6 after a 25-20 loss to now No. 2 Frontier, ending the Patriots’ 26-game winning streak in the Southwest Yosemite League.
Still at No. 1 is Clovis North after defeating Buchanan 28-3.
The Broncos will face No. 4 Central for the Tri-River Athletic Conference title at 7 p.m. Friday at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis.
A win by Clovis North would give the Broncos the outright TRAC title, but if the Grizzlies win, both teams will share the crown.
Tulare Union fell out of the rankings after losing to unranked Dinuba 35-28.
Garces re-enters back the rankings at No. 25.
