6A Playoffs

Lehi 52, Davis 21

No. 6 seed Davis’ hopes of a 6A quarterfinal upset fizzled away quickly in the second quarter against No. 3 seed Lehi. With Davis leading 7-3 after the first quarter, Lehi scored the next six touchdowns to build a 45-7 lead with 2:15 left in teh quarterf on its way to the easy 52-21 victory. With the win, Lehi advances to the 6A semifinals next Friday against No. 3 seed Corner Canyon. Lehi quarterback Jett Niu was incredibly efficient in the win as he completed 17 of 25 passes for 329 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for two scores. Grayson Brousseau and Ezaiah Mama each finished with 99 receiving yards.

Corner Canyon 35, Lone Peak 21

No. 2 seed Corner Canyon overcame several of its own turnovers and then used a big third quarter to pull away from No. 10 seed Lone Peak for the 6A quarterfinal victory, 35-21. Zion Finau, Bryton Brady and Isaac Wilson all rushed for TDs in the win, with Wilson also throwing for a pair of TDs. Both of those touchdown passes for Wilson came in the first half as the game went to the half tied 14-14. Wilson pushed the lead to 21-14 on his TD run and then Finau stretched the lead to 28-14 on his run with 4:28 left in the third quarter. Lone Peak cut the deficit to 28-21 on a Luke Christensen TD pass to Trey Robinson with midway through the fourth quarter, but that was as close as the Knights would get. Corner Canyon advances to the 6A semifinals next week and will face No. 3 seed Lehi.

American Fork 42, Bingham 14

Top seed American Fork jumped all over No. 8 seed Bingham in the 6A quarterfinals, building a 28-6 lead on its way to the easy victory to advance to the 6A semifinals next week. Dylan Story passed for three touchdowns to lead the way for the Cavemen, with two of them going to Josh Andrus. Zane Edwards had a key 20-yard interception return for touchdown in the first quarter that helped American Fork build a quick 14-0 lead.

Skyridge 37, Pleasant Grove 30

No. 4 seed Skyridge won a thrilling overtime rematch against No. 5 seed Pleasant Grove 37-30 in the 6A quarterfinals. The Falcons offense started slow, but picked up in the second half for the comeback victory. Jackson Stevens and Jack Burke connected twice in the third quarter to close the gap. Pleasant Grove had two chances to seal the victory in the final moments of the game, but had two interceptions negated by penalties. Carter Sheffield put Skyridge ahead with a powerful run in overtime, and the defense clinched the Falcons’ fourth straight semifinal appearance. Skyridge will look to avenge their only other regular season loss against No. 1 seed American Fork on Nov. 10.

5A Playoffs

Bountiful 36, Springville 35

In a wildly entertaining 5A quarterfinal game in which No. 10 seed Bountiful and No. 2 seed Springville traded touchdowns the entire game, it was Bountiful that ultimately prevailed 36-35 in overtime on a successful two-point conversion run by Emerson Geilman. Siaki Fekitoa scored three rushing touchdowns in the win, including the game-tying score that sent the game into overtime with 1:03 remaining. In overtime, Tevita Valeti scored his third rushing TD of the game of Springville’s opening possessions, with Faletau Satuala answering with an 11-yard TD run on Bountiful’s possession. The Redhawks elected to go for the win instead of kicking the extra point for overtime, and it was successful as Emerson Geilman converted.

Olympus 41, Box Elder 14

No. 5 seed Olympus used a dominant second quarter to roll past No. 4 seed Box Elder for the emphatic 5A quarterfinal victory. The win sends the Titans to the semifinals at Rice-Eccles Stadium for the first time since 2018. Quarterback Chase Moseley threw five touchdowns to lead the Titans, including four in the second quarter as his team scored 28 unanswered points in the quarter to stretch a 3-0 lead at the end of the first quarter to 31-0 by halftime. Ty Seagle and Caden Lloyd each caught a pair of those touchdowns, with Seagle capping the Olympus scoring with a 7-yard TD reception with 19 seconds left in the third quarter for the 41-0 lead. Box Elder’s Dax Sumko tacked on a pair of a rushing TDs in the fourth quarter with the outcome well in hand.

Alta 13, Roy 9

No. 11 seed Alta claimed a huge upset victory over No. 3 seed Roy in a hard-fought defensive battle. The game started with Robert Young returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown, but Roy was unable to find the end zone again. Matt McKea took over the game late in the first quarter with two touchdown throws, one to Anthony Cottis, and another to Tele Afu that put the Hawks ahead for good. The tough Alta defense was able to keep the Royals from scoring throughout the second half to hang on for the upset win. Alta will face off against No. 10 seed Bountiful in the semifinal, with both teams fresh off upset wins in the quarterfinals.

Timpview 55, Brighton 35

Top seed Timpview jumped all of No. 8 seed Brighton building a 34-point lead, nearly gave it all back, and then pulled away late to secure the 55-35 victory in the 5A quarterfinals. Taani Makasini and Haven Halliday each returned an interception for a TD for the T-Birds, the later polishing off the Bengals and any hope of a comeback. Timpview led 41-7 after Makasini’s 66-yard interception return with 3:01 left in the first half, but Brighton scored a TD just before halftime, and then three straight in the third quarter to trim the lead to 41-35. Timpview regrouped on both sides of the ball after that to secure the win in a game Helaman Casauga rushed for three TDs. Timpview advances to face No. 5 seed Olympus in the semifinals on Thursday.

4A Playoffs

Crimson Cliffs 34, Desert Hills 16

No. 2 seed Crimson Cliffs cruised to victory over No. 10 seed Desert Hills with a score of 34-16 in the 4A quarterfinals. Mustangs quarterback, Steele Barben, kicked-off the scoring spree with a 70-yard touchdown pass to Maddux Alofipo in the first quarter, followed by a 55-yard completion to Tyler West. Two impressive rushing touchdowns were added by McCord Christiansen, the second being an 80-yard sprint in the third quarter. Crimson Cliffs advances to its third straight semifinals and will face off against No. 6 seed Ridgeline.

Green Canyon 36, Sky View 32

No. 8 seed Green Canyon eked out a huge upset against previously undefeated No. 1 seed Sky View. The Wolves exacted revenge against the Bobcats, after their 21-7 loss in the regular season. Wolves quarterback Payton Wilson had a spectacular performance, throwing two long, first-quarter touchdowns - a 62-yarder to Cache Cragun and a 60-yard completion to Dewey Egan. Egan proved to be the star of the night, having three touchdowns, which included a 95-yard kick return, giving the Wolves a necessary boost in the third quarter. Clinching the game in Q4 with 1:22 remaining, Wilson dodged his way in for a one-yard scoring run, ensuring the Wolves’ thrilling victory against the Bobcats. Green Canyon will play against No. 4 seed Park City in the semifinal on Nov. 9.

Park City 28, Timpanogos 24

In one of the most fantastic finishes of the season, No. 4 Park City forced a recovered a fumble at its own 1-yard line with minutes to go to hold off a furious rally and preserve a playoff victory over No. 5 Timpanogos, 28-24. The quarterfinal victory punched the Miners’ ticket to Rice-Eccles next week for the 4A state semifinals. Sebastian Bodily, Carson Navarro, Elijah Warner and William McCurdy each punched in a rushing touchdown for the Miners, who move on to the semifinals for the first time since 2019. Quarterback Chase Riggs threw for two TDs for the Timberwolves, while running back Easton Bretzing added on on the ground in the loss.

Ridgeline 45, Payson 6

No. 14 seed Payson’s cinderella run ended following a 45-6 loss to No. 6 seed Ridgeline, in the 4A quarterfinals. Riverhawks’ quarterback Nate Dahle led his team, accounting for five total touchdowns - a 4-yard run in Q2, a 45-yard pass to Carson Cox in Q1, and three more short passes to Bode Hansen, Krew Jones, and Hunter Knighton. For the Lions, the sole score came from Cooper Swasey with a 5-yard run during 8:52 of Q1. It was a high-scoring game for the Riverhawks, and a lopsided scoreline emphasized their dominant performance on both ends of the field. Ridgeline will face powerhouse No. 2 seed Crimson Cliffs in the semifinal on Nov. 10.

Beaver 20, Kanab 13

Baylor Blackburn returned an interception for a touchdown and then also caught a touchdown pass on a half-back pass as No. 1 seed Beaver overcame a big upset bid by No. 4 Kanab, which lost to Beaver by 35 points in the regular season. Beaver led 20-7 at the half, but Kanab cut the lead to 20-13 on a Griffen Bone TD run in the third quarter. Blackburn helped ice the win though for Beaver with an interception in the final minute of the game. His team will next play in the QA state championship game next Saturday at Southern Utah.

Enterprise 18, Duchesne 12

Brayden Gardner scored on a 7-yard touchdown run in overtime as No. 3 seed Enterprise edged No. 2 seed Duchesne in a very tightly-contested 1A semifinal game at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman. Duchesne had the first possession in overtime, but it was stopped on a fourth down and 1 at the four-yard line, which set the stage for Enterprise to win it with its overtime possession. Duchesne led 6-0 at the half, but Jaden Drake and Kyron Bracken scored on touchdown runs for the Wolves in the second half to give their team the 12-6 lead. The Eagles tied it with 7:53 remaining in the fourth quarter on Brody Jacobs’ second TD run of the game, but they missed the extra point.

1A 8-player

Rich 50, Water Canyon 14

Top seeded Rich punched its ticket to the 1A 8-player championship with a 50-14 victory over No. 4 Water Canyon at Zions Bank Stadkum in Herriman. Rich had a strong rushing game with four rushing touchdowns, Drake Weston had two rushing touchdowns, including an 80-yard kickoff return in the win.

Monticello 43, Altamont 8

No. 2 seed Monticello earns a return trip to the 1A 8-player championship with a dominant 43-8 win over No. 3 seed Altamont in the semifinals. Monticello’s offense started hot and build a 35-0 lead at halftime, while the Monticello defense didn’t give up a touchdown in the opening three quarters. Monticello’s quarterback JD McDonald led the offense with two touchdown passes and a rushing touchdown.
