OAK HILLS 26, ST. BONAVENTURE 20

The Seraphs trailed 26-7 and lost starting quarterback Anthony Wolter to injury before launching a comeback in the fourth quarter on the road that nearly produced a victory in the Division 2 first-round game.

St. Bonaventure scored 14 points in the fourth quarter on touchdown passes by Manny Rosales and drove to the Oak Hills 30-yard line in a bid for a go-ahead score. But a fumbled snap on fourth-and-3 ended the chance.

Delon Thompson rushed for 153 yards on 23 carries and caught a 18-yard touchdown pass and Joaquin Johnson finished with 10 catches for 112 yards and two TDs. Jared Barlow had one catch for 15 yards.

olter was 6 of 11 for 68 yards and one touchdown. Rosales finished 6 of 10 for 77 yards and two TDs.

The Seraphs, who won their second straight Marmonte League title, finished the season 7-4. Undefeated Oak Hills moves to 11-0.

RANCHO CUCAMONGA 14, OAKS CHRISTIAN 10

The Lions drove to the 21-yard line in the final minute in search of the go-ahead score, but came up short. Three plays netted three yards and a fourth-down pass fell incomplete with 23 seconds remaining as Oaks Christian lost the first-round road game in Division 2.

Johnny Thompson rushed for 113 yards and sophomore quarterback Axel Eason completed 13 of 21 passes for 103 yards.

Oaks Christian ended its season at 7-4. Rancho Cucamonga improved to 9-2.

CHAPARRAL 62, THOUSAND OAKS 14

Chase Martin scored the game's first touchdown on a 6-yard run and Johnny Abarzua returned a kickoff 75 yards for a score, but it wasn't nearly enough to take down the Big West League power after a long road trip in a Division 3 playoff opener.

Thousand Oaks lost its first game after posting a perfect 10-0 regular-season campaign for the first time in program history. Chaparral improved to 7-4.

OAK PARK 29, NORTH TORRANCE 12

Kadyn Parr completed 15 of 23 pass attempts for 126 yards and rushed for 54 yards and two touchdowns as at-large entry Oak Park opened the Division 6 playoffs with a victory at home.

Rowan Heidt rushed for 92 yards and one touchdown on 21 carries.

Max Romanov sparked the defense with a pair of sacks and Landon Holmes had an interception.

Second-seeded Oak Park (7-4) will play at San Jacinto in the quarterfinal round this Friday.

CALABASAS 44, LA HABRA 32

King Miller rushed for 210 yards and three touchdowns on 22 carries as the host Coyotes rallied for the victory in the first round of the Division 6 playoffs.

Alonzo Contreras hit on 9 of 16 passes for 169 yards and two touchdowns and Aaron Butler caught two scoring passes.

Jerry McGee returned an interception 60 yards for a touchdown and Domata Peko Jr. had 10 tackles, six tackles for losses and one sack.

Third-seeded Calabasas (7-4) will play at Ramona in the quarterfinals this Friday.

WESTERN 21, BUENA 20

Zane Carter ran for two touchdowns and the defense produced four takeaways and a safety, but the Bulldogs fell in a tight Division 7 first-round game on the road.

“We made a lot of mistakes,” head coach Ryan Bolland said. “Offensively, our execution was not in the place it needed to be to win a playoff game.”

Carter completed 17 of 30 passes for 195 yards, but Buena (5-6) was held to 83 yards rushing and came up empty on three possessions in the red zone.

“We’ve got to be cleaner than that and get points,” Bolland said.

Carter’s 1-yard run and Kyle Banks’ conversion run gave the Bulldogs a 20-13 lead with 10 minutes to play.

But Western quarterback Anthony Luna followed his touchdown pass to Drew Faulkner with a conversion pass to give Western a 21-20 lead with eight minutes to play.

“They were very explosive on the outside,” Bolland said. “Our kids did a great job holding up outside.”

Carter’s 1-yard run gave Buena a 10-0 lead midway through the second quarter.

Up 10-6 in the third quarter, Buena attempted a fake field goal. But the ploy failed.

Bolland second-guessed his decision after the one-point loss.

“That’s pretty tough to swallow,” Bolland said.

SANTA ANA 14, FILLMORE 7

The Flashes couldn’t hang onto a 7-0 halftime lead at top-seeded Santa Ana in the Division 10 first round.

Stephen Hughes threw touchdown passes to Joseph Foster in the third and four quarters to complete the comeback for Santa Ana (8-3).

“I was incredibly impressed by the performance of the kids,” Fillmore coach Charlie Weis said. “They gave every ounce of themselves against a school four times bigger than us.

“They almost came up with a huge upset.”

David Jimenez’s 3-yard TD run gave the Citrus Coast League champion the lead in the second quarter.

“We were really hanging with them in the first half,” Weis said. “As the game progressed, it was not a fair fight. Their size just wore us down.”

Sophomore Anthony Tafoya completed 12 of 23 passes for 165 yards to break the school record for single-season passing yardage with 1,967.

Senior tight end Jared Uridel caught five passes for 92 yards to break the school record for receiving yards with 1,521. He already holds the mark for receptions and TD catches.

Mathew Magana had an interception for the Flashes (8-3).
