High school football: Roosevelt wins the ‘Little Big Game’, plus other rivalry results

A Gatorade bath would suit Roosevelt High interim coach Joshua Kloster just fine.

Even after a 48-7 high school football win against Fresno in the 93rd Little Big Game played at Sunnyside Stadium on Friday night when temperatures were in the 50s.

“The kids played really well; both sides of the ball,” Kloster said. “Just very proud of their work ethic and the way they’ve been performing in the last four or five games.”

Roosevelt quarterback Jackson Kloster scored on a 1-yard run in the first quarter.

Fresno (2-8, 2-5 NYL) answered when Damareea Farris scored on a 3-yard run to even it at 7.

But Roosevelt came back and went ahead for good when Kloster connected on a 61-yard touchdown pass to Jeremy Young in the second quarter.

The Rough Riders (6-4, 4-3) ended up leading 28-7 at the half.

Jackson Kloster finished with three passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns. Young had two receiving touchdowns and Dimareea Banks had two rushing touchdowns.

“We didn’t start off the best,” Jackson Kloster said. “I knew we had a good team and everyone bought in and kept working and look at us now on a four-game win streak.”

And as far as annual game, he added that it’s “the biggest rivalry” and “it means a lot to bring it back to the community. I’m sure the community is excited.”

Roosevelt has won Pancho the bronze pig trophy since 2017.
