High school football roundup: Northwestern, South Central open the season with wins

NORTHWESTERN 44, KEYSTONE 33 Northwestern opened the season with a road win over Keystone. Huskies quarterback Ethan Siders completed 20 of 30 passes for 242 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 32 yards and a score. CJ Reed caught six balls for 96 yards and a score, while Nolan Hartsel turned eight catches into 74 yards and two touchdowns. Collin Good paced NW on the ground with 87 yards on 11 carries, returned a kickoff 82 yards for a touchdown and collected eight tackles on defense. Anthony Huber paced the defense with 14 tackles, while Hartsel chipped in nine stops. Gavin Phillips returned a fumble 30 yards for a score.

SOUTH CENTRAL 44, WILLARD 43 South Central pulled out a season-opening victory over Willard. Trojans quarterback Brandon Mitchell passed for 317 yards and four touchdowns while rushing for 138 yards and two scores. Isaac Blair caught 12 passes for 120 yards and three touchdowns, while Hagen Adams caught 12 balls for 135 yards and a score.
