High school football: See who’s moved up, down in The Bee’s new Top 25 rankings
The top of The Fresno Bee’s high school football rankings remains the same heading into Week 3, even with No. 1 Liberty-Bakersfield losing.
The Patriots lost to Santa Margarita 34-14. Santa Margarita is ranked No. 9 in the state by MaxPreps.
Liberty will visit No. 15 Buchanan at 7 p.m. Friday.
Lemoore also held its spot, at No. 7, after a tough 27-26 loss to No. 4 Clovis West.
The Tigers next face No. 10 Sanger, which dropped one spot after a 42-21 loss to Clovis East.
The top eight teams remain the same.
No. 11 St. Joseph, No. 12 Clovis, No. 13 Hanford and No. 14 Central Valley Christian each moved up one spot following wins.
Shafter enters the rankings at No. 23 after defeating No. 24 Bakersfield 31-17.
Garces remains in The Bee’s rankings despite its 0-3 start, checking in at No. 25. The Rams played three tough teams to start the season, coming close to beating Moorpark in a 41-35 loss.
Dropping out is Washington Union despite blanking Torres 26-0. The Panthers won the season opener, but the Central Section office said they used an ineligible player, thus a double forfeit with Fresno.
