High school graduation ceremonies planned in Monroe County area

Several Monroe County area high schools will have graduation ceremonies today through Sunday.

Huron High School

• Huron High School in New Boston will hold graduation at 7 tonight at the high school's athletic field.

Flat Rock High School

• Flat Rock High School will hold its graduation ceremony tonight.

A total of 105 seniors will graduate. Diplomas will be conferred by Andrew Brodie, superintendent, and Norman Haase, president of the board of education.

The Flat Rock High School Band will perform.

Meadow Montessori

• Meadow Montessori School is holding its graduation at 6 tonight at The McIntyre.

Catharine Calder, head of the school, will give the introduction. Jeff LaRoux will be the speaker. Coady Torio, president of the board of trustees, will confer diplomas. Music will be provided by the Meadow Chamber Music.

Carlson High School

• Carlson High School in Gibraltar will hold graduation Friday.

Graduating will be 275 students.

Speakers will be Jessica Shultz, Amy Conway and Siya Patel. Shultz and Conway also will confer diplomas. The high school band will provide music.

Monroe High School

• Monroe High School will hold its graduation ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Bunkelman Field at MHS.

Airport High School

• Airport High School is holding graduation at 6 p.m. Friday.

Receiving diplomas from the Airport Community Schools Board of Education will be 181 students.

Speakers will be Ryan Lewis, valedictorian, and Sydney Jorgensen, salutatorian. Chris Lukosavich, principal, will give a welcome address. Superintendent John Krimmel will give remarks. Shawn Harper, author of "The Winning Edge" and a former NFL player, is the keynote speaker.

The Airport Varsity Voices, under the direction of Maxwell Trombley, will sing the class song, "The Climb" by Miley Cyrus. The AHS Symphonic Band will play "Pomp and Circumstance" and the national anthem.

Bedford High School

• Bedford High School will hold graduation ceremonies at 2 p.m. Sunday at the University of Toledo.

Graduating will be 360 students. Speakers will be Miranda Moore, Illana Ravindra, Huessein Jomaa, superintendent Carl Shultz and principal Kevin Weber.

Members of the board of education will confer diplomas. Music will be offered by the BHS Music Department.

Mason High School

• Mason High School in Erie will have graduation at 5 p.m. Sunday at MHS. If it rains, graduation will take place at 5 p.m. Monday.

Graduating will be 85 students. Speaking will be Brandon Bates, principal, and three students. Bates also will confer diplomas.

The MHS Band will provide music.

Ida High School

• Ida High School will hold graduation Sunday.

Graduating will be 87 students. Speakers will include the class valedictorian, salutatorian, Student Council president and Superintendent David Eack.

Diplomas will be conferred by members of the school board. The IHS band will provide music.

Milan High School

• Milan High School will have graduation Sunday.

Approximately 145 students will graduate. Student speakers will be Matthew Bowman, valedictorian, and Katelyn Lindemann, class president.

The MHS Band and Choir will provide music. Bryan Girbach, superintendent, will confer diplomas.

Summerfield High School

• Summerfield High School in Petersburg will have its graduation ceremony Sunday.

About 45 students will graduate.

Speakers will be students Abby Stevens, Lydia Roop, Hailey Westrick and Sylas Redlinger and staff members Terri Nowak and Camryn Klocinski.

The SHS Concert Band will provide music. Diplomas will be conferred by Scott Salow and Terry Keller.
