High School Hockey: Tech/Apollo shuts out Willmar boys for CLC win

Feb. 24—WILLMAR — St. Cloud Tech/Apollo came out of the gate strong against Willmar, scoring six first-period goals en route to a 12-0 Central Lakes Conference boys hockey victory Tuesday at the Willmar Civic Center.

August Falloon had three goals along with an assist for St. Cloud. Eli Unze finished with two goals and two assists. Ripley Garden also came up with two goals in the victory.

Cardinals goaltender Gavin Steinwand faced 60 shots, stopping 48. St. Cloud's Ben Condon had 12 saves.

Losers of nine straight, Willmar will play again Friday at Bemidji.

Brandon Bokelman and Noah Jensen each scored third-period goals to push Sauk Rapids past River Lakes at the River Lakes Arena in Richmond.

Bokelman's goal came 2 minutes, 36 seconds into the period to tie the game at 3-3. Jensen's score at the 6:34 mark proved to be the game-winner.

Jacob Philippi buried a pair of pucks in the back of the net in the first period before completing a hat trick midway through the second.

Riley Weinard had 25 saves for the visitors. River Lakes goaltender Drew Tangen finished with 36 stops.

The Dragons led 1-0 after the first period following an unassisted goal from Grant Grochow. Then after the Tigers tied it early in the second, Litchfield/D-C struck again when Gavin Hanson punched in a power-play goal at 6:40.

Goaltender Darby Halonen had 27 saves in the loss.

The Dragons are host to Prairie Centre at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Holy Family Catholic outshot Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato 53-9 as the Fire won their fourth straight game in the victory at the Litchfield Civic Arena.

Olivia Paidosh had a hat trick for Holy Family. Teammates Maddie Morgan and Josie Lind each had one goal and four assists.

The Dragons' only goal came in the second period courtesy of a power-play tally from Emily Johnson.
