High school homecoming events starting across Centre County. Here’s what to know
As fall is officially here, homecoming celebrations are on the horizon. Schools around Centre County are hosting dances, parades and football games for students and alumni alike.
The Centre Daily Times has compiled a list of all the upcoming Homecoming events.
Bald Eagle
Bald Eagle Area School District’s annual homecoming parade will start at 6 p.m. on Oct. 5 on Water Street. The homecoming football game will be held against P-O on Oct. 7 with a dance for Bald Eagle High School students on Oct. 8.
Bellefonte
Bellefonte Area School District is celebrating 50 years of homecoming celebrations, kicking off with a parade through downtown Bellefonte on Sept. 29. The Bellefonte Red Raiders will play Hollidaysburg on Sept. 30 with a homecoming court announcement at halftime. The homecoming dance will be hosted at the high school on Oct. 1.
Centre County Christian Academy
The small nondenominational private school in Bellefonte hosts its own homecoming celebration and soccer game on Oct. 16. In previous years, school board members, sponsors and parents have completed a century ride — a hundred-mile-long bike ride — ending with a student-led parade before the soccer games.
Grace Prep
Although Grace Prep has its official homecoming celebrations in December, the soccer team’s senior night draws in students and alumni alike. Teams will play at Rogers Stadium in Bellefonte on Oct. 7.
Penns Valley
Penns Valley Area School District’s homecoming parade will start at the Grange fairgrounds on Oct. 13. Penns Valley High School will host a pep rally during school hours on Oct. 14 followed by the homecoming football game against Tyrone. The high school’s homecoming dance will be held Oct. 15.
Philipsburg-Osceola
Philipsburg-Osceola High School’s homecoming dance took place Saturday but the Mounties will play their homecoming football game against Penns Valley on Sept. 30. Students and staff will have their spirit days in the week leading up to the game.
State College
State College Area School District is hosting its homecoming the week of Oct. 3-7, with a parade at 6 p.m. on Oct. 6. The State High football team will play Carlisle at Memorial Field on Oct. 7, followed by a homecoming dance for State High students on Oct. 8.
St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy
St. Joseph’s will host its homecoming dance on Sept. 30 with several sports events the following week. Boy’s soccer will play East Juniata on Oct. 3, with girls volleyball games Oct. 4-5. The homecoming celebrations end with a Fall Harvest event at 1 p.m. on Oct. 7.
