Crestview 73, Plymouth 48

The Crestview Cougars completed the first 20-win regular season and broke the single season wins record by knocking off Plymouth 73-48 on Friday night.

Heath Kash led the way with 18 points while Tyson Ringler and Owen Barker added 11 points apiece, Jarek Ringler had nine, Sam Wells added seven, Dylan Bruner scored six and Brennan Fulk rounded out the scoring with one.

The Cougars are 20-2 and await the winner of Genoa and Wynford in the Division III sectional tournament.

Northmor 63, Mansfield Christian 60

Highland 50, Clear Fork 40

The Clear Fork Colts took a tough MOAC loss in their final game of the season falling to Highland 50-40 on Friday night.

Logan Richmond led the way with 10 points while Garrett Hotz added seven, Grant Spencer and Beau Dornbirer had six apiece, Victor Skoog and Logan Anderson scored four apiece, Kaden Riddle had two and Charles Myer rounded out the scoring with one.

Clear Fork falls to 6-16 and will take on Ontario at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Madison in the Division II sectional semifinals.

Tuesday, Feb. 14

Boys Basketball

Crestview 82, St. Paul 54

The Crestview Cougars picked up another Firelands Conference victory over St. Paul on Tuesday night, 82-54.

Justice Thompson led the Cougars with 27 points while Heath Kash added 16, Tyson Ringler and Jarek Ringler scored 10 apiece, Owen Barker had seven and Dylan Bruner and Sam Wells rounded out the scoring with six apiece.

The Cougars improved to 19-2 on the year and tied the program record for wins in a season. They have a chance to complete the first 20-win season in Crestview boys basketball history on Friday at Plymouth.

Lucas 52, Clear Fork 50

The Lucas Cubs pulled off a narrow win over Clear Fork on Tuesday night winning 52-50 in nonconference action.

Andrew Smollen led the way for the Cubs with 15 points while Aidan Culler added 13, Logan Toms had nine, Corbin Toms scored seven, Kason Antrican chipped in with five and Zach Diehl rounded out the scoring with three.

Victor Skoog led the Colts with 16 points while Adam Vanausdle added 10, Grant sPencer had eight, Garrett Hotz collected six, Mason Pipes chipped in with four and Beau Dornbirer and Logan Anderson rounded out the scoring with three apiece.

The Cubs finish the regular season at 18-4 and will play St. Peter’s at 6 p.m. on Feb. 21 at Crestview in the Division IV sectional semifinals. Clear Fork falls to 6-15 and travels to Highland on Friday to round out the regular season.

Mansfield Christian 78, New London 54

The Mansfield Christian Flames picked up a nice 78-54 win over New London on Tuesday night in nonconference action.

Davis Wushinske and Amarr Davis led the Flames with 12 points apiece while Brock Rentzel, Luke Zerby and Griffin Baker scored 11 points apiece, Isaac Hillman added five, Connor Loose, Gabe Westfield and Evan Keib chipped in with four apiece and Blayne Morrow rounded out the scoring with three.

The Flames improve to 15-6 and host Northmor on Friday.

Sandusky 81, Madison 77 OT

The Madison Rams took state-ranked Sandusky into overtime and game the Blue Streaks everything it could handle in an 81-77 OT loss on Tuesday night.

Seven Allen led the way with 27 points while Jayden Jeffries added 23, Owen Wigton and Will Kepple had eight apiece, Justin McCraney scored five and Cam Kuhn and Tatum Turcott rounded out the scoring with three apiece.

The Rams finish the regular season 11-11 and will play Holland Springfield at 6 p.m. on Feb. 21 in the Division I sectional semifinals.

Bellevue 49, Ontario 44

The Ontario Warriors took a tough 49-44 nonconference loss to Bellevue on Tuesday night.

Gage Weaver led the way with 14 points while Grady Schroeder added 12, Carter Weaver had six, Braxton Hall scored five, Grayson Purvis collected four and Landon Foltz rounded out the scoring with three.

The Warriors fall to 12-9 and host Shelby on Friday.

Saturday, Feb. 11

Boys Basketball

Ontario 40, Colonel Crawford 38

The Ontario Warriors picked up a nice nonconference win over Colonel Crawford on Saturday, 40-38.

Carter Weaver led the way for Ontario with 17 points while Gage Weaver added nine, Bodpegn Miller scored six, Brady Zehe and Braxton Hall had three apiece and Landon Foltz rounded out the scoring with two.

The Warriors improve to 12-8 and host Bellevue on Tuesday.

Madison 36, Marion Harding 35

The Madison Rams picked up a nice 36-35 nonconference win over Marion Harding on Saturday night.

Jayden Jeffries led the way for the Rams with 16 points while Seven Allen added 10, Tatum Turcott scored six and Will Kepple rounded out the scoring with four.

The Rams improve to 11-10 and travel to Sandusky on Tuesday for the season finale.

Shelby 59, Upper Sandusky 55

The Shelby Whippets used a come-from-behind effort to pick up a nice nonconference win over Upper Sandusky on Saturday night, 59-55.

Alex Bruskotter and Issaiah Ramsey led the way with 12 points apiece while Brayden DeVito added 11, Casey Lantz scored eight, Carson Brubaker collected six and Bryson Baker and Max Hess rounded out the scoring with five apiece.

The Whippets improve to 18-2 and host Lexington on Tuesday.

Mansfield Senior 59, Trotwood-Madison 55 OT

The Mansfield Senior Tygers won their third game in a row and four of their last five with a nice 59-55 overtime win over Trotwood-Madison on Saturday.

Karion Lindsay led the way with 14 points while Duke Reese added 13, Nathaniel Haney and Kyevi Roane scored eight apiece, Rashad Reed scored seven, Ja’Ontay O’Bryant chopped in with three and Jakob Legron, Melo Smith and Ahmaan Thomas rounded out the scoring with two apiece.

The Tygers improve to 14-7 and host Lexington on Friday in the regular season finale.

Lucas 40, Plymouth 30

The Lucas Cubs went on the road and picked up a nice nonconference win over Plymouth on Saturday night winning 40-30.

Logan Toms led the way for Lucas with 12 points while Corbin Toms added 11, Aidan Culler scored 10, Zach Diehl chipped in with three and Hunter Church and Jadon Walter rounded out the scoring with two apiece.

Owen Reynolds and Layne Bushey led the Big Red with 10 points apiece while Gavin Bishop added four and Carson Tucker, Jarrett Burrer and Flint Ratliff rounded out the scoring with two apiece.

The Cubs improve to 17-4 and travel to Clear Fork on Tuesday while Plymouth falls to 4-17 and hosts Crestview on Friday.

Ottawa-Glandorf 71, Lexington 59

The Lexington Minutemen took a tough 71-59 nonconference loss to last year’s Division III state runner-up Ottawa-Glandorf on Saturday night.

Brayden Fogle led the Minutemen with 18 points while Baden Forup added 13 points and 15 rebounds, Hudson Moore scored 11 points, Elijah Hudson added 10, AJ Young scored four and Chance Basilone rounded out the scoring with three.

The Minutemen fall to 17-3 and head to Shelby on Tuesday.

Lucas 63, Riverdale 45

The Lucas Cubs earned an impressive 63-45 win over Riverdale on Saturday afternoon in nonconference action closing out the regular season.

Shelby Grover led the way for the Cubs with a huge 36-point performance.

Lucas improves to 8-13 and will take on Plymouth at 6 p.m. at Crestview on Thursday in the Division IV sectional semifinals.

Friday, Feb. 10

Boys Basketball

Lexington 73, Wooster 50

The Lexington Minutemen clinched at least a share of the Ohio Cardinal Conference championship with a 73-50 win over Wooster on Friday night.

Baden Forup and Hudson Moore led the way with 22 points apiece while Brayden Fogle added 12, Elijah Hudson scored 11 and Alex Depperschmidt and Gavin Husty rounded out the scoring with three apiece. Forup posted a huge double-double with 14 rebounds while Fogle also added 10 to give him a nice double-double of his own. He also collected five steals.

The Minutemen improve to 17-2 and 12-1 in the OCC giving them a one-game lead with one to play. They can clinch it outright on Feb. 17 at Mansfield Senior. First, they travel to Ottawa-Gandorf on Saturday and Shelby on Tuesday.

Marion Harding 58, Ontario 31

The Ontario Warriors took a tough 58-31 loss to Marion Harding on Friday night in MOAC play.

Braxton Hall and Grayson Purvis led the way with six points apiece while Grady Schroeder added five, Brady Zehe collected four, Landon Foltz and Bodpegn Miller scored three apiece and Carter Weaver and Gage Weaver rounded out the scoring with two apiece.

The Warriors fall to 11-8 and travel to Colonel Crawford on Saturday.

Lucas 63, Mount Gilead 48

The Lucas Cubs earned a convincing nonconference win over Mount Gilead on Friday night, 63-48.

Logan Toms led the way with 23 points while Andrew Smollen added 13, Aidan Culler scored 12, Hunter Church collected four, Corbin Toms had three and Zach Diehl, Kason Antrican, Jadon Walter and Ty Lehnhart rounded out the scoring with two apiece.

The Cubs improved to 16-4 and travel to Plymouth on Saturday.

The Mansfield Christian Flames earned a nice Mid-Buckeye Conference win in their last league game of the season beating Central Christian 62-46 on Friday night.

Amarr Davis led the way with 22 points while Luke Zerby had a nice game with 17, Griffin Baker added 11, Brock Rentzel chipped in with six and Connor Loose and Gabe Westfield rounded out the scoring with three apiece.

The Flames improve to 14-5 and host Lake Center Christian on Saturday.

The Crestview Cougars picked up an impressive Firelands Conference win over Plymouth on Friday night, 33-24.

Georgia McFarland led the Cougars with 12 points while Emma Aumend added seven, Mia Humrichouser and Elyse Belcher scored four apiece and Paige Rogers rounded out the scoring with two.

Plymouth was led by Jaylin Branham and Destiny Detillion with eight points apiece while Sarah Hoak added five, Autumn Wilson scored two and Lydia Patton rounded out the scoring with one.

Crestview ends the regular season 9-13 while Plymouth drops to 7-15.

Mansfield Senior 45, Watkins Memorial 33

The Mansfield Senior Tygers wrapped up the regular season with a convincing 45-33 win over Watkins Memorial on Thursday night.

Kiersten Bradley finished with a career-high 26 points while knocking down eight 3-pointers in the victory. She was just one off of the single-game program record of nine set by Canea Williams who knocked down nine in 2002-03. Kiyah Wentz added five points while Tasaya Smith added four, Monetta Hilory and Dazey Manns added three apiece and Kyeona Myers and Annaleise Norris rounded out the scoring with two apiece.

The Tygers finish the year 17-5 and will play Madison at 8 p.m. on Feb. 16 at Edison High School in the Division II sectional semifinal.

Clear Fork 42, Highland 26

The Clear Fork Colts picked up a nice MOAC win over Highland on Thursday night in their season finale, 42-26.

Annika Labaki led the way with 15 points while Pacey Chrastina added 11, Brinley Barnett had seven, Mel Blubaugh and Lillian Weikle added three apiece, Lyvia Davis chipped in with two and Kylie Belcher rounded out the scoring with one.

The Colts improve to 15-7 and take on Edison at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 15 at Buckeye Central in the Division III sectional semifinals.

The Cubs improve to 8-13 and travel to Riverdale on Saturday for the regular season finale.

The Clear Fork Colts picked up a convincing win over Cardington on Tuesday night in nonconference action, 45-32.

The Big Red improved to 7-14 and rounds out the regular season on Friday at home against Crestview.

The Madison Rams took a tough 48-20 loss to Norwalk in nonconference action on Tuesday night.

Alexis Rippel led the way for the Flames with 20 points while Zy Davis added 14, Abby Little had eight, Raegan Standridge scored six, Calah Rader collected five, Rebekah Kapustar chipped in with four and Adelle Cramer, Riley Patrick and Ally Shoemaker rounded out the scoring with two apiece.

Makenzie Hardin scored three points for the Spartans while Sunshine Sipes rounded out the scoring with two.

The Lexington Lady Lex took a tough Ohio Cardinal Conference loss to Wooster on Thursday night falling 69-47.

Madi Basilone led the way with 11 points while Cora Palmer and Kaitlyn Delano Goodman added nine apiece, Kaleigh Leadbetter scored seven, Ava Brown had six, Lexia Buffington chipped in with three and Tatum Stover rounded out the scoring with two. Brown added 10 rebounds while Stover and Leadbetter had even apiece.

Lexington falls to 5-17 and is off until Feb. 16 when they play Shelby at 6 p.m. at Edison in the Division II sectional semifinals.

The Plymouth Big Red took a tough nonconference loss to Wynford on Thursday evening, 63-28.

Alex Bruskotter led the way with 32 points while Issaiah Ramsey added 10, Casey Lantz and Bryson Baker had nine apiece, Max Hess collected seven, Carson Brubaker scored five, Audric Kelly and Brennan Lewis chipped in with three apiece, Karsen Homan scored two and Brayden DeVito rounded out the scoring with one.

The Ontario Warriors outlasted the Crestview Cougars in overtime on Tuesday night, 65-63, in nonconference action.

Gage Weaver led the Warriors with 18 points including an and-1 late in overtime to seal the victory. Brady Zehe added 12 points while Braxton Hall added 11, Grayson Purvis had nine, Carter Weaver scored eight, Landon Foltz chipped in with five and Grady Schroeder rounded out the scoring with two.

Crestview was led by Justice Thompson with 18 points while Jarek Ringler added 14, Tyson Ringler had 10, Owen Barker and Sam Wells added eight apiece and Heath Kash rounded out the scoring with four.

The Warriors improve to 9-7 and have now won three straight. They host Galion on Thursday. Crestview falls to 16-2 and travels to New London on Friday.

Lexington 94, Galion 79

The Lexington Minutemen saw an offensive explosion in a 94-79 win over Galion on Tuesday night in nonconference action.

Audi Albert had a huge game with 22 points while Demi Hipp and Eve Schwemley added 13 apiece, Trinity Baker chipped in with six and Alexis Booker rounded out the scoring with two. Schwemley also added eight rebounds while handing out five assists.

The Whippets improve to 16-4 and travel to Clear Fork on Friday night.

The Plymouth Big Red picked up a nice nonconference victory over Crestline on Tuesday night, 59-29.

Destiny Detillion led the Big Red with 26 points while Jaylin Branham added 16, Sarah Hoak and Lydia Patton added four apiece, Aly Lewis chipped in with three and Mallory Keefe, Autumn Spears and Aryssa Horne rounded out the scoring with two apiece.

The Lucas Cubs earned a dominating 60-34 win over Loudonville on Friday night to clinch at least a share of the Mid-Buckeye Conference championship for the fifth consecutive season.

Aidan Culler led the way for the Cubs with 17 points while Andrew Smollen added 12, Logan Toms and Corbin Toms scored eight apiece, Zach Diehl had five, Jadon Walter scored four, Kason Antrican added three, Josh Burtscher chipped in with two and Hunter Church rounded out the scoring with one.

The Cubs improve to 13-3 and host Mansfield Christian on Friday with a chance to clinch the outright MBC championship.

The Crestview Cougars took one step closer to clinching a Firelands Conference championship with a 70-65 win over Monroeville on Friday night.

The Tygers improved to 10-3 and 7-1 in the OCC. They travel to Mount Vernon on Saturday.

The Mansfield Christian Flames took a tough nonconference loss to East Knox on Thursday, 43-33.

The Clear Fork Colts snapped a 27-game losing streak by beating Edison 54-37 on Monday night giving the Colts their first victory since defeating Lucas 62-53 on Feb. 17, 2021.

Garrett Hotz led the way with 17 points while Grant Spencer added 15, Milo Burgholder had six, Victor Skoog collected five, Madison Pipes chipped in with four, Kaden Riddle scored three and Pawie Ault and Beau Dornbirer rounded out the scoring with two.

The Colts improve to 1-2 and host Galion on Thursday.

Mansfield Christian 68, Central Christian 8

The Mansfield Christian Flames dominated their way to a Mid-Buckeye Conference victory on Monday night winning 68-8 over Central Christian.

Alexis Ripple exploded for 25 points while Abby Little added 14, Kyleah Jones had nine, Raegan Standridge collected eight, Adelle Cramer added six, Riley Patrick chipped in with four and Zy Davis rounded out the scoring with two.

The Flames improve to 3-1 and 1-1 in the MBC. They travel to Crestline on Saturday.

The Crestview Cougars completed a solid opening weekend with a 75-64 win over Mansfield Christian in nonconference action on Saturday night.

Heath Kash led the way with 27 points while Jarek Ringler and Justice Thompson had 14 apiece, Owen Barker had 10, Sam Wells scored six and Dylan Bruner rounded out the scoring with four for the Cougars.

Amarr Davis led the Flames with a game-high 30 points while Griffin Baker added 12, Isaac Hillman had seven, Davis Wushinske collected five, Tristin Johnson added four, Gabe Westfield chipped in with three, Connor Loose scored two and Brock Rentzel rounded out the scoring with one.

The Lucas Cubs completed a double-weekend Mid-Buckeye Conference sweep on Saturday night beating Crestline 54-18.

Andrew Smollen led the way with 15 points while Logan Toms added 12, Zack Diehl and Josh Burtscher scored eight apiece, Kason Antrican scored four and Bobby Collins, Hunter Church and Corbin Toms scored two apiece and Aidan Culler rounded out the scoring with one.

The Madison Rams took a tough 73-71 overtime loss to Oregon Clay on Saturday night in nonconference action.

Seven Allen led the Rams with 25 points while Jayden Jeffries added 18, Cameron Kuhn scored 12, Will Kepple chipped in with six and Tatum Turcott and Owen Wigton rounded out the scoring with five apiece.

The Rams are now 2-2 on the year and travel to New Philadelphia on Friday.

Shelby 45, Marion Harding 32

The Shelby Whippets completed a nice MOAC opening weekend rounding things out with a 45-32 win over Marion Harding on Saturday night.

Sophia Long led the way with 12 points while Eve Schwemley added 11, Charlie Niese and Alexis Booker scored six apiece, Demi Hipp collected four, Trinity Baker had three, Sarah Reiser added two and Serena Ramsey rounded out the scoring with one.

Baker also added eight rebounds, three assists and three steals while Hipp added five assists, four boards and four steals.

The Ontario Warriors took a tough 48-26 loss to River Valley in MOAC action on Saturday night.

The Lucas Cubs earned a convincing win in their season opener by beating Mid-Buckeye Conference rival Central Christian 52-34 on Friday night.

The Shelby Whippets picked up a narrow win over Pleasant on Friday night in their Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference opener.

The Madison Rams suffered a heartbreaking Ohio Cardinal Conference loss to Wooster on Friday night falling with 0.6 seconds left on a buzzer-beater by the Generals, 54-53.

Wortman also added 10 rebounds and five steals while Chrastina added six boards and three steals and Davis rounded out the stats with three steals.

The Lexington Lady Lex picked up the first win in Lexington High School's new gym by knocking off nonconference foe Willard 49-44 on Tuesday night.

Madi Basilone continued her hot start with 16 points while adding five steals, three rebounds and two assists to lead the way. Kaitlyn Delano-Goodman found success inside with 11 points and nine rebounds while adding three steals. Kaleigh Leadbetter chipped in with eight points, seven rebounds, and two assists while Tatum Stover added six points and nine rebounds and Cora Palmer and Ava Brown rounded out the scoring with four points apiece. Brown also added nine rebounds while Palmer handed out three assists.

Lady Lex improves to 1-2 on the year and travels to Ashland on Thursday.

Mansfield Senior 63, St. Francis DeSales 46

The Mansfield Senior Tygers improved to 3-1 on the season with a 63-46 victory over Columbus St. Francis DeSales on Tuesday night in nonconference action.

Kyiah Wentz had a huge game with 22 points including four 3-pointers and nine points in the fourth quarter. Monetta Hilory added 12 points while Kiersten Bradley chipped in with 11, Kyeona Myers had nine, Annaleise Norris collected six and Dazey Manns rounded out the scoring with three.

The Tygers are 3-1 and host Wooster on Thursday to open OCC play.

The Ontario Warriors took a tough nonconference loss to Smithville on Tuesday night falling 53-33 on the road.

The Mansfield Senior Tygers improved to 2-0 on the season with a nice road win over Olentangy Orange on Tuesday night by a final of 52-40.

Monetta Hilory led all scorers with 18 points while Dazy Manns and Kiersten Bradley added nine points apiece, Kiyah Wentz has eight and Annaleise Norris and Kyeona Myers rounded out the scoring with four apiece.

The Tygers are back in action on Saturday at Shelby.

Mansfield Christian 71, Black River 52

The Mansfield Christian Flames picked up an impressive 71-52 win over Black River on Tuesday night in nonconference action.

Kyleah Jones exploded for 28 points while Alexis Ripple added 22 to give the Flames two dynamic scorers. Raegan Standridge had eight while Noelle Beare added seven and Abby Little scored six as all five starters provided plenty of offensive firepower in the victory.

Mansfield Christian is now 2-0 and hosts Loudonville on Dec. 3.

The Plymouth Big Red dropped a nonconference contest to Black River on Saturday afternoon falling 40-34 at home.

Destiny Detillion led the way with 13 points while Jaylin Branham and Cailynn Bailey had six apiece, Sarah Hoak added four, Mallary Keefe had three and Lydia Patton rounded out the scoring with two.

The Big Red is now 1-1 on the season and hosts Colonel Crawford on Tuesday.

Girls Basketball

Plymouth 35, Hillsdale 32

The Plymouth Big Red picked up a season-opening victory over Hillsdale on Friday night, 35-32. It was the first season-opening win for Plymouth since the 2006-07 season.

Jaylin Branham exploded for 18 points while Destiny Detillion added eight, Autumn Wilson had seven and Cailynn Bailey and Lidia Patton had one apiece.

The Big Red improved to 1-0 and will host Black River on Saturday.

Margaretta 58, Shelby 41

The Shelby Whippets were handed their first regular-season loss since the 2020-21 season after a trip to Margaretta brought back a 58-41 loss on Friday night in the season opener.

Audi Albert led the way with 11 points while Charlie Niese added 10, Sarah Reiser had five, Demi Hipp added four, Serena Ramey collected three and Alyssa Booker, Sophia Long, Trinity Baker and Alexis Booker added two points apiece.

The Whippets fall to 0-1 and host Mansfield Senior on Nov. 26.

Waynedale 56, Crestview 10

The Crestview Cougars ran into a buzzsaw in their season opener falling to Waynedale 56-10 on Friday night.

Georgia McFarland led the way with four points while Emma Aumend added three, Mia Hunrichousen had two and Elyse Belcher had one.

The Cougars fall to 0-1 and travel to Colonel Crawford on Nov. 29.

Wooster 61, Madison 49

The Madison Rams dropped their season opener to Ohio Cardinal Conference foe Wooster on Friday night 61-49.

Brianna Bowles led the way with 12 points while Madison Berry had a nice start to her high school career with 11. Natalee Back, Savanna Rachel, Brynn Kiley and Chloe Ebeling had five points apiece while Olivia Schulz had four and Melanie Slick rounded out the scoring with two.

The Rams are 0-1 and will return to the court on Tuesday at home against Clear Fork.
