Not only did the launch of Disney+ bless us with movies we literally haven't seen in ages and a soon-to-be Lizzie McGuire/Gordo reunion, but they also brought back High School Musical. It's not exactly the original, but it's just as good. High School Musical: The Musical: The Series features a brand new cast, but more the same, you know the sports, the drama, the Sharpay-like queen B. But what's even crazier about the show is that it has an unexpected connection to Miley Cyrus's Disney show Hannah Montana.

No Miley Cyrus won't be making an appearance on the show, but her on-screen brother is somewhat involved. Jason Earles played Miley's brother goofy brother Jackson, and now he's involved with the new HSM.

On Instagram, Jason revealed that he served as a mentor to the cast of the new show. "Spent 6 Months in Salt Lake working with this amazing group, as an acting coach and mentor of sorts. By the end, we were all just family. It was humbling to watch these insanely gifted people work to constantly be better, and never settle. I am so proud of how the show turned out. Heartfelt and funny, it’s totally original but respectful of its history, and filled with amazing new music," he wrote in a post. "So happy the world can finally watch these guys on Disney+ and see what I see...the next generation of Disney Stars. Congrats! Love all you guys! Can’t wait for Season 2 😉."

Jason has remained relatively low-key since Hannah Montana wrapped up, though he did star as Rudy Gillespie in the Disney XD series Kickin' It from 2011 to 2015. He's currently working on a show called Hotel Du Loone for the digital network, Brat TV.

You can watch Jason mentees on Disney+, where High School Musical: The Musical: The Series streams weekly.
