HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Braintree boys basketball coach Bob Crook picks up win No. 400

The Braintree High boys basketball picked up their first win of 2023 with a 58-49 win over Durfee on Monday.

The win was No. 400 for coach Bob Crook, who is in his 32nd season coaching at Braintree. Tristan Linn led the way offensively with 14 points.

The Wamps were No. 43 in the most recent MIAA power rankings. Teams that finish in the top 32 or with a record of .500 qualify for the tournament. Monday's win improved Braintree's record to 4-7.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Holbrook 75, Wayland 58: The Bulldogs improved to 10-1.

Rockland 61, Norwell 54: Michael Moriarty scored 31 points to lead the Bulldogs (6-5). The win moves Rockland to first place in the South Shore League Tobin Division, a half-game ahead of Carver.

Diman 76, South Shore Tech 48: Jesse Lyons had 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the Vikings (4-8).

Foxboro 73, Stoughton 50: Jarred Daughtry (15 points) and Jayden Costa-Heywood (10) finished in double digits in the loss.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Avon 63, Randolph 20: Hanelie Cadet exploded for 31 points for the Panthers (5-3). Kylie Mallett added 16 points and Dahlia Parent, Emma MacDonald and Kylie Anderson played well defensively.

GIRLS HOCKEY

Stoughton 5, Quincy/North Quincy 1: Ava Buckley scored four goals in the win and Ella Cummings tacked on a goal and an assist. Amanda Reid handed out a pair of assists. Leila Uchani, Molly Corvino and Megan McGowan had assists.

BOYS HOCKEY

Oliver Ames 4, Lexington 3: On Sunday, Andrew Livingstone (two goals, assist) and Jack Perron (goal, two assists) had three-point days for the Tigers. Jack Corey had a goal and an assist.

GIRLS SWIMMING

Foxboro 71, Stoughton 22: Stoughton's Daniela Vernot finished third in the 100 yard breaststroke and 50 free. Madelyn Cook took third in the 100 free.

BOYS SWIMMING

Foxboro 74, Stoughton 61: Quinn Fogarty (100 backstroke) and Christopher Lee (50 free) had first-place finishes for the Black Knights.

GYMNASTICS

Bridgewater-Raynham/West Bridgewater 144.4, Brockton/East Bridgewater 138.95: B-R/WB posted a season-best score before strong showings from Katie Russo (first on vault and floor) and Lily Moreira (uneven bars). Brockton/EB's Ella McCarthy and Ciara Thomas tied for first on beam.
