HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Abington splits basketball doubleheader with Martha's Vineyard

Abington High split a girls/boys basketball doubleheader against Martha's Vineyard on Monday in their Blackout Cancer games.

The girls won, 60-41, while the boys lost, 68-53.

Ella Williamson paced the Green Wave girls (9-11) with 22 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 assists. Savvy Eriksen added 14 points, and Rebecca Rix chipped in with 6 points, 8 rebounds, 10 assists, 5 steals and a pair of blocks.

Abington also got contributions from Mary Klein (6 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals), Ava Williamson (6 points, 3 rebounds), Bella Abrams (4 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 assists) and Kenzie Litzenberger (2 points, 8 rebounds).

Connor Pease had 33 points and 16 rebounds for the Green Wave boys (8-11).

Martha's Vineyard (17-1) was led by Tobey Roberts (18 points), Matheus Rodriguez (14 points, 13 rebounds) and Josh Lake (15 points).

GIRLS BASKETBALL

South Shore Tech 45, Bristol Aggie 20: Rose Earner and Mia Bradshaw each had 13 points as the Vikings (15-3, 8-2) clinched the Mayflower Athletic Conference Small Division. It's the second league title in the program's history. Zoey Bradshaw was a defensive standout.

Blue Hills 46, Bishop Connolly 22: Kathleen Murphy had 16 points and 11 rebounds, and Bridget Devine, a junior from Braintree, added 16 points and 3 blocks for the host Warriors (16-2, 7-1) in the Mayflower Athletic Conference win. Senior Emily Lehane (Braintree) scored her first career points on Senior Night.

Avon Girls 51, Randolph 25: Hanelie Cadet scored 24 points to lead the Panthers (10-5) to a non-league road win. Kylie Mallett added 11 points, and Dahlia Parent had 10.

Rockland 60, Weymouth 53: Sydney Blaney scored 21 points, and Zariah Ottley had 19 as the Bulldogs (16-2) posted a non-league road win. Meg Doyle led the Wildcats (9-8) with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Ainsley Weber (16 points) and Callie Flynn (14 points, 6 rebounds, 5 blocks) also starred.

Hanover 43, Plymouth North 35: Mary Kate Flynn (13 points, 12 rebounds) and Noey Girardina (12 points) starred as the Hawks (14-4, 12-4) beat the Blue Eagles on the road in Patriot League action.

Fontbonne Academy 45, Cardinal Spellman 20: Junior Lilly Blow had 15 points, 15 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals and 3 blocks to lead the host Ducks (11-6) to a win on Senior Night. Seniors Colleen Fogarty (11 points, 3 rebounds) and Alix Abelard (6 points, 2 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals) also starred.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Hanover 54, Plymouth North 43: The Hawks (10-7) celebrated Senior Night by beating the Blue Eagles at home in Patriot League action. Hanover was led by seniors Charlie Carroll (20 points), Jake Peterson (12 points, 7 rebounds) and David Quinlan (10 points, 15 rebounds) and sophomore Tyler Vincent (10 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists). Ivan Darko led North with 14 points, and Nick Marcel and Cody Quinn each added 8.

Blue Hills 49, Avon 32: Tyler Anderson had 12 points, Elijah Dumornay added 11, and Dominic Capaccioli chipped in 10 as the Warriors (10-7) won on the road.

On Friday, Laz Fontes (10 points), Ryan Luddy (9) and Bradley Charles (5) led Avon to a 58-31 win over South Shore Christian Academy on Senior Night.

Holbrook 63, Bishop Connolly 51: Armani Perkins scored 16 points as the Bulldogs (15-3) won at home. Owen Burke added 13 points, and Allen Brown (11) and Marquis Dobay-Lindsay (10) also contributed.

Dartmouth 71, Bridgewater-Raynham 55: The Trojans (3-14) lost on the road. Deshawn Faulk led B-R with 13 points, and Noah Perry-Lewis and D.J. Overall each added 10.

Rockland 56, Hull 47: The visiting Bulldogs (10-7, 7-6) clinched a share of the South Shore League Tobin Division (with Carver).

Brockton 65, Cambridge Rindge & Latin 37: The host Boxers (11-4) have won three straight and eight of nine.

BOYS HOCKEY

BC High 2, Newburyport 0: Luke O’Sullivan and Jackie Murphy scored as the host Eagles (6-9-1) snapped a three-game losing streak.

Stoughton/Brockton 6, North Quincy 3: Sean Farley, Owen Dupont, Garrett Sager, Brendan Twohig, Charlie Caputo and Ryan Summers scored for the Black Knights.

Scituate 3, Barnstable 2: James Sullivan, Teagan Pratt and Dan Brown (empty net) scored for the visiting Sailors (14-4-2).

Arlington 1, Hingham 0 (OT): On Sunday, the Harbormen (11-2-5) lost in the final of the Ed Burns Coffee Pot Tournament Doherty Division.

GIRLS HOCKEY

Milton 1, Marshfield 0: On Sunday, the Wildcats (15-1-3) got a goal from Molly Murphy and a 34-save shutout from Lila Chamoun.

GIRLS GYMNASTICS

NDA takes fourth: Notre Dame Academy placed fourth at this weekend's Cranberry League championship meet with a season-best score of 139.9. Katie McCormack was fourth in the all-around, and Emily Lembo was sixth. Lily DeGiacomo placed third on beam and sixth on vault. Chloe Kenney took seventh on beam. Sophia Chavez finished fifth on bars and fourth on floor. NDA had three Cranberry League All-Stars: McCormack (all-around), Chavez (bars) and Lembo (floor). Ashi Patel was the sportsmanship award recipient.

Braintree placed seventh: The Wamps finished seventh at Saturday's Bay State Conference championship meet at Newton North with a score of 131.9, their second-best of the season. Senior Sophia Ryan was a BSC Honorable Mention selection. Megan Matheny was sixth on vault (8.65) and seventh on beam (8.8), and Lilith Watson was eighth on bars (8.0) and ninth on floor (8.5). Braintree's Deb Duprey was named Bay State Conference Coach of the Year.

BOYS SWIMMING/DIVING

BC High stars at sectionals: On Sunday, the Eagles finished third at the South Sectional championships with 231 points to trail only winner Needham (254) and runner-up Xaverian (252). Duxbury (120) was sixth, and Cohasset (110) was seventh. Quincy/North Quincy was 13th (65), followed by Scituate (19th; 38 points), Hanover (21st; 32), Plymouth North (23rd; 27), Brockton (30th; 6), Bridgewater-Raynham (32nd; 4) and Oliver Ames (35th; 1.5).

David Topi of BC High won the 50-yard freestyle (:21.76) and the 100 breaststroke (:58.03) and swam on the winning 400 free relay (3:14.26) with Sam Craft, Gerhardt Hoover and Alex Yun. Those four also combined to place second in the 200 medley relay in 1:36.80; that broke the previous meet record set last year by Bishop Feehan, but Xaverian's team went even faster (1:36.34).

Hoover won the 200 IM (1:57.45) and was fourth in the 100 backstroke (:54.61). Craft was second in the 200 free (1:43.94) and fourth in the 100 free (:48.88). Yun was second in the 100 breaststroke (:59.26) and third in the 100 butterfly (:53.25).

For Duxbury, Matthrew Cristofaro was third in 1-meter diving with a score of 425.25, and Win Davenport was third in the 100 breaststroke (:59.67). The Dragons also were fourth in the 200 medley relay with Elliott Morse, Davenport, Peter Coleman and Aiden Hall finishing in 1:40.95.

For Cohasset, Jack DeMello was third in the 100 free (:48.84) and fourth in the 50 free (:22.28), and Reid Nussbaum was fourth in the 100 butterfly (:53.35).

Hanover's Cameron Pope was second in diving (444.30).
